So, I was on ebay... usually a mistake... and I saw a set of fifteen cheap throwing knives with sheaths selling for some really dirt cheap price ($20 shipped or so?). Well, I've been throwing them for awhile, and I figured the reason I couldn't stick them was that they were so low quality.

Thankfully, my brother got me the book by Harry McEvoy on basic knife throwing and tomahawk throwing, and, after 15 minutes of figuring out the distances and spin, I can stick it with some consistency from just under 30 feet... I'm happy, very happy. :D

Anyhow, the thing I need to improve is my aim; so, do you guys have any tips on form or practice that can tighten up my groups?

Since I just ordered a hawk from Ft. Turner, any tips that you can offer on hawk throwing are also appreciated... no animal cruelty comments now, ok? :D

Hawk throwing seems much easier to pick up. The hawk seems to rotate more consistently than knifes do. You figure out distance the same way as throwing knives. You pay attention to how the hawk hits. Then move forward or back. You can also throw the hawk edge first (edge facing the target), or edge reversed (facing you) depending on the distance to get more sticking potential. Think of that like a handle hold or blade hold based on distance.

The most important thing is to practice and try for consistency. Try to throw the same release, same point of aim, etc.

Enjoy
