I wanted to make an official hello to you all. So far this forum has seemed like it is full of some really awesome people. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and majorly crushing on their knives! I love it :)

Here is how I ended up in love with Kershaws this past weekend. So in the past, I've been a fan of leathermans- actually I started out with a SAK when I went to girl scout camp as a little kid 25 years ago. When I got older, I found leathermans and loved always having the right tool with me. I thought I lost my wave a couple weeks ago and started looking at what kind of leathermans are being made these days. I lusted after the skeletool CX for awhile and finally bought it on Amazon. When it arrived Saturday, I really liked the blade on it and it got me thinking about how I've always had leathermans, but never really got into single blade knives. I started browsing the web and these forums... Everyone was talking about spyderco and benchmade but nothing really caught my eye and said, "You NEED this knife!". Nothing until I saw the Kershaw Leek. I knew as soon as I saw it that I would end up with it but I was still browsing. I went to slickdeals to see what kinds of sales go around on the leek and saw that amazon had the speed bump for $35. That looked pretty awesome but I didn't want to choose between the two so I decided to place the order for both. Sunday morning I was browsing slickdeals again and saw that Cabela's had the storm ii for $20. My dad loves going there and we don't have one here in California so I sent a text asking if he could check it out and get it for me if they had them.

The Speed bump and the Leek arrived yesterday and as I was opening the package I got a call from my dad saying he had gotten the Storm ii for me. Wow! I guess I'm officially a knife junkie. Did I mention that after ordering the two Kershaws from Amazon, I browsed the forums endlessly and saw that everyone says the Buck 110 is a must have so I ordered that one, too? That one arrived yesterday as well!

Of the three knives that I got yesterday, the leek was the clear winner to be the first one in my pocket for a day at work. Also, I didn't want my gf to know I bought so many knives so I chose to only show her one. I knew I wanted to play with it all night long too so I committed to the Leek. She knows my dad is sending me the Storm II and she also knows I tend to get a little caught up with the collecting thing and she can already see where this is heading. Its only been one day and I'm already taking heat over this! Haha!

Today as I got ready for work, I put the leek in my back pocket with my moneyclip and went on my way. I drive a truck for my job and had to resist pulling it out to open it, then close it, then open it, then close it, then open it, then close it, then open it. I did pull it out when I got to my first delivery. It was dark out and I was waiting for them to open the door. I was opening it closing it opening it in the dark... Nipped my thumb. I've done that a couple times but I've found that I don't mind it. Kind of like when a puppy bites you while you're playing with it.... Just a part of the game, and you love the puppy so it's ok.

Everytime I pulled the knife out, I loved how warm the metal was because it was so cold outside this morning. I showed about 20 people my knife for no other reason than they like me enough to not mind if I stop and bs with them. "Hey- wanna see something cool?". It was crazy because almost Everyone was interested in it, wanted to touch it, or told me about someone who worked there who is into knives. Then I would go find that person and they would pull their knives out of their pockets and show me their treasures. One guy had a spyderco bug and that prompted me to get right on amazon to buy the honeybee. If kershaw had something similar, I would've chosen that instead.

I am smitten :) <3

So, thanks for being here blade freaks... I'm looking forward to our friendship :)

Congrats on the Leek purchase. It's one of the best deals out there.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you are off to a great start. Keep us updated on future purchases. Later! :)

Edit: Wait till Leek Freak reads this! ;)

Star, Welcome to Blade Forums and congrats on your new addiction :D

You'll find a wealth of information about knives here, and lot's of pictures, which almost inevitably results in a smaller bank account...lol

I've noticed leek freak's crazy collection! I've drooled over many of their pictures :)

A Leek and a Speed Bump were two of my recent purchases as well. I like them both. But, my hands are pretty fair sized and the Bump just fits my hand much better than the Leek. So, for now, I've been using the Bump. Congrats on getting some great knives. They are some fun, aren't they!!!

Congrats!

Kershaw's Leek was my first foray into quality knives. I can still picture that day clearly buying that Leek and sticking it in my pocket right away. Like you I wanted to take it out as soon as possible and "play" with it.

You couldn't have picked a better company to start out with. Kershaw has some great products out there and are coming out with even more!

Welcome!

A tear of joy just rolled down my cheek :D
You picked 3 great knives from a great company.

I find myself flicking open my Leek for no reason also. And yes, they've claimed a few pieces of my fingers.

My gf is a chef and I was very excited to find out about Kershaw and Shun being owned by the same people. I've eyed up some Shuns when they go on deal on Amazon but never pulled the trigger on one. When I start to feel guilty for having too many knives, I will have to buy her one to ease the guilt :)
