Ok so most of u probably know that I am very new to the wonderful world of Kukris and HI. I have an 18" m43 on the way, and am already eyeing up my next purchase! :D I am looking for something a little lighter and "quicker" than the m43, I was thing 15" for length. I have it narrowed down between a Sirupati or a British Army service. I would be using it mainly for a camping/backpacking knife, so carryibility and weight would be an issue. Thx in advance!

BAS for sure, just ordered one myself, great utility blade, you won't be sorry with any purchase you make. H.I. makes not only dependable tools I would bet my life on but also works of art that really have no equal as far as aesthetics and customer service go.

Yup 15" would be a nice compromise for size, weight, and packability, the BAS is a given, I'd also look at the WWII, Gopte, or ASTK. I think a YC, DC, or TC would be good, but I think they're too pretty to be used as a camp knife. A KVLUK would be fantastic, light, and an all around user!

The BAS would be a great choice, but the KLVUK would be my pick. Agile, sharp, cost effective, and very capable.

That's another question, where are these KLVUK's I hear everyone talkin about? I've looked on the HI site but can't seem to find them

Look at the "Last minute gift for 12/23" down a few posts for an example. Keep your eyes peeled they come up from time to time.

15 inch 17 ounce Keshar Lal Villager Utility knife by Keshar Lal. Lali gurash wood handle. Sharp blade. $45.

They are not on the HI site, they are only sold here on the forum, and on the DOTDs, but you can also email Yangdu at himimp@aol.com, and ask if she has on in stock, and she'll probably sell it to you, if you ask.

I am sold out the BAS.
I do have a Chiruwa Ang Khola in stock.

Welcome to the blade forum and HI, Urban redneck

Thanks so much for the info everybody! I'm definitely gonna keep my eyes peeled for a KLVUK, it seems to be just what I'm looking for and at an affordable price! It will also allow me to get the 18" Sirupate I've been eyeing up as well 😁

Hey city Redneck fella! That Chiruwa AK she is offering is a backpack knife like none other. it is about 16-17" and also comes with Chak and Karda sheath and all. The full package, fullered, polished and a ready to go chopper. You would not be disappointed if it something in your price range. It is a dedicated chopper and can deal with lots of hard use but can also be used for fine work as a draw knife, carving etc. if needed. Check it out. KLVUK's are fine too but are bare bones blades. I have about five of them so I aint puttin them down either. They are great blades as well. The are for lighter duty and dont come with all the bells and whistles but are awesome as well.

Thx ndoghouse! I was actually just checking out the Chiruwa Ang Khola on the website. Just a little out of my price range right now after trying to recoup from the holidays lol, but it's defiinelty on my list! That's the problem, every time I visit the HI site, I find something else that I NEED! Lol!

Yep I hear ya there! Keep checking out the DOTD's and you'll likely pick something up comparable for much less. Theres lots of models that would do you well. Hang in there. If I see something come up ill point you to it:thumbup:

Man the second I saw that blade I knew it was made By Kumar! Polished to perfection! Your a lucky guy! Great vid! Thats a 1000 words right there.
I have one by Kumar but its a villager but it has the scale still left on it. Very rare. I have not seen another. Cherish that blade! Use it I mean!

Kumar is a wonderful Kami producing wonderful work for sure! However, while not as astute as many of the other long timers here, I would still venture to say Purna is right up there. IMHO, years from now, both their works will be highly coveted.
