It's been a couple of days and I promised some photos (sorry not very good ones). This is a very nice user micarta #124 I received in a trade. Do you feel it would be worthwhile to send it to Buck for a tune-up? Thanks, Mark

Mark, If you are going to continue to use it, I would just sharpen it. If you're thinking of putting it in a display or make it part of a collection, I would send it in for a refurbish.

Xkali, Does the belt loop on the sheath swivel ? Or is it stationary with two rivets ? Nice looking 124, hope you like it . DM

David, I'll have to check the loop, I'm not sure if it swivels (I'm still at work). Is one more preferable?

Razorblades, I'll take that as a complement on my photography. The knife really does have LOTS of scratches and dings here and there. All superficial though. The guy who I got it from also put a wicked sharp edge on it for me.

This knife feels so good in hand!

Xkali, Not perferable but helps to date it . As this model is different and harder to date from the knife alone . It didn't follow some of the 100 series patterns . So, we go to the box and sheath . A 124 to me is a great knife in its self whether using or merely looking at . Enjoy . DM

Agreed. It's a great looking knife and I can't wait to use it. There is one rivet on the loop although it doesn't really swivel.

Xkali, Your sheath is of a newer style . Newer meaning, 1978-85 . The flap over is late seventies - eightys . The swivel sheath is 73 then came the one that does not swivel but is like the one Gordon posted a photo of , more leather at the snap and sewn on both sides w/ a rivet at top corners 74-78 ? . I've not seen a sheath like yours so I'd be guessing but perhaps late 70's after Gordon's model . Anyone w/ different info. can correct me . DM
