So I wanted one of these for a while. Not to collect. To carry and use. Local AZ made. Native history. Love the looks. Been looking for a while but most are just super nice with no use, cases etc. Collectors pieces.

I narrowed it down to the coyote or eagle with the eagle being prefered. Would have grabbed an Arizona too but only around 500 made more expensive and collectable pieces. Found myself a scratched up worn eagle. Picked up a nylon buck tool sheath for it.

Did some research and here is what I can find on this knife. If I am missing any info or am wrong please let me know:

Looks like this one was advertised in the Buck Catalog in 92

Year made: 1/92 for 1992
Steel: 420HC Stainless Steel Blade, mirror polish
Catalog Number: 2038
Model Number: 112Y5
Name: Yellowhorse Eagle
Inlays: Turquoise, Coral, Pearl. Blade Stamp: Buck Custom, Mirror Blade
Display Case: No
Sheath: No
Amount made: 1276

Anyway I paid what I paid and its worth what it's worth and it's going to be a user on my side.

Came a little scratched from wear, did a quick polish and will clean it up some more. Ran it on the diamonds and it's nice and sharp and ready for some EDC.

Here are some pics when I got it on the bench for some polishing ,scratch removal, and clean up

Congrats, that is a wonderful example, well done on the acquiring and cleaning up and you being about carrying and using. I love the work that David does on his issues, I have a number of his knives but can't bring myself to carry one...maybe if I found one as you did I could.
Here are three with his Lacy design. A 111 drop point, top. A 212, W2 steel, done for the 30th BCCI anniversary, middle and an early112, bottom.

Beautiful collection.

I have decided that nothing I own anymore is going to be collectable. I cannot take a single thing with me and when I pass who cares what happens to all of it. I want to enjoy the use of it while I have it. Love the look of them so that's why I bought it.

Heck yeah. Plus, you'll walk into any room and will likely have the classiest pocket knife of anyone with that Yellowhorse.

The rarest DY of all is one that is actually used..My profound change of attitude was with a BCCI 111 NS Elk with the gold etch. I was unboxing it and said it was a shame to put it away.. KathyJo turned around and said "Who are you saving it for?"...

My funeral will be the first to feature a hearse pulling a big U-Haul trailer. I'm taking all my stuff with me.:)

Where will you be buried for future reference?
I've given this a lot of thought in the last several years. I can't think of any place that I'd rather be buried than down at the end of our property, by the bend in the creek, under the willow tree. Right beside all my old labradors, and cats that we've buried over the years. And I'm serious!

That's extremely nice and I'm jealous of that but I need GEO Coordinates to ensure your safety.

I must warn you- one of our current labs will probably be standing guard.

Ah, what the heck am I talking about. Everybody our labs meet is their new best friend. If a burgler broke into the house while we were away, the dogs would help them carry stuff out.

Don't go letting Burglars take all the Buck stuff.

Save that for the Willow Tree I'll be looking for.

Let us know how you like it after some use. Very nice.

Well after quite a bit of carry I am very happy with it. Whenever I use it in front people it garners attention and questions. I keep it sharp and it does the job well and now I carry a custom piece of Buck history with Arizona Native American influence. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I carry it in a buck 360SP sheath FYI

First of all, that is an absolutely gorgeous knife!

Secondly, this is a very inspirational thread.

I’m in the same boat with nobody to leave my knives to. My wife will get them and for all I know, she might just throw them in the garbage.

I have a Buck 055 customized by David Yellowhorse that I carry from time to time. I carried my DY 112 for a day or two and then chickened out.

This thread makes really want to carry it a lot more.

I look at is as: I can't take it with me. If I like it I am gonna buy it and use it as intended.

Sometimes we get caught up in collecting and the 'value' or 'worth' of our knives but in the end it's a tool. Ment to be used. As I have gone thru my Buck journey since 2007 I've come to admire very rare and valuable 112's especially NIB. I consider myself to be a custodian of Bucks history and feel no need to cut things with those. But I have a lot of nice ones I chose to carry and use. I feel if a person wants to buy and use ANY Buck knife good for you! Even if it's rare one of one collectable. I consider using rare Bucks like driving rare muscle cars..even Hemi Cudas lolol! If ya got one and want to why not? I bet most if not all of the knives in Bucks museum have cut stuff...
