Well, over the years I've owned six or seven small Sebenzas, a few Mnandis, and a couple Umfaans but, for whatever reason, I've never owned a large Sebenza - until now! :D I was offered an incredible deal this afternoon and there was no way I could possibly pass it up so this previously loved large 21 followed me home (I wasn't even thinking of picking up another knife - funny how that happens, huh? :p). Anyway, it's been in my pocket for about five-and-a-half hours now and here are my impressions so far:

First of all, it opens very smooothly, much smoother than the BG42 bladed models I've owned/handled and noticeably more so than the small Micarta Classic with S30V that I briefly had. I'm not sure but it seems that the stonewash finish is much finer/smoother than on previous versions.

Secondly, the thumbstud is nowhere near as sharp as the ones that were on the older BG42 models that have passed through my hands.

Finally, I'm very pleased that the sharp corner present where your forefinger meets the lockbar cutout (on the lock side) when gripping the knife has been smoothed out  - this was probably the main reason that I never bought one of the older large models (it can be a little annoying at times on my small one but seems it could be greatly exacerbated on a large one). I also like the contour on the bottom of the lockbar.

The only minor nit that I have to pick is the size of the pocket clip. Don't get me wrong, I know it's perfectly functional but, when visually compared to a small model it just seems a little "off". The clips, when fitted to small Sebenzas, just seem to be much more proportional to my eye.

Oh well, guess I've rambled on enough, here are a couple of quick snaps that I took a little while ago:

Gotta say; the scale chamfer at the pivot end really is a nice enhancement. That was a good move.
