New to me Mini Commander

Hi all. New to this forum, and relatively new to Emersons as well. I recently picked up a new Roadhouse which, has unfortunately for my wallet, started a buying spree. The most recent purchase is a used 2005 Mini Commander that's in good shape. I am curious about the lock engagement though. The liner lock isn't touching the opposite liner, but it is quite engaged, and there seems to be a bit of an impression in the back of the blade from the stop pin. The lock seems to engage well and doesn't move while using the knife, so at this point I'm not really concerned, just looking for a little info. Hopefully I can get the pictures to show up, and they're useful.

Is this type of engagement of the lock normal after several years of use? What about the impression on the back of the blade from the stop pin?

Thanks for any help you guys might be able to provide.
Scott

ETA: I did disassemble the knife and try rotating the stop pin to see if that would help with the lock engagement, it didn't.

Thanks guys, maybe I'll try calling next week.

Addiction is about right, just got the mini and I already want a regular Commander.

I'm glad you're calling next week about the lockup -- I would do the same thing.

Btw watertower, I liked my regular-size Commander but LOVE my Super Commander. If you have large hands & can swing the extra cash, I'd recommend the SC. However, if you stick with the regular size, you will still have a LOT of fun with it. That may sound silly, but my Journeyman is for utility tasks (like my work) and my 7 is a good edc, but the Commander series of knives, to me, is just a lot of fun...can't explain it.

Welcome to BF & welcome to the world of Emerson!

Thanks for the welcome. I've got girly hands, so the Super Commander is probably going to be a bit big for me. Of course I'd like to get one in each size, but that may take awhile, especially since the Ubr Commander seems to be out of production.

Ordered a Commander for a buddy of mine... Previously have not liked many of the Emerson offerings, but the Commander did grow on me. I will probably end up getting the MC. I don't see one who uses a knife to really go wrong with either of the 3.

Quick update. I sent the Mini Commander back to Emerson, along with a Roadhouse that had a lock issue. I sent them out on Monday last week and had them back the following Monday. Emerson customer service is on top of things, both knives are good as new.

Additionally, I made a trade deal to get a new in box Commander, and I definitely like this better than the mini Commander. Then, today, I stopped in a local shop that carries Emersons and found a Super Commander with a clearance sticker on it. I couldn't resist the price, so now I have 3 different sizes to play with. At the moment I think the standard Commander is the right one for me, but the Super really is nice.

Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear all went well. Great service / great knives.

I had a similar experience in that I started with a regular Commander, then got a Super Commander and found the SC fits my hand better. If a person is able, it's better to try them out and see how they feel in-hand, so you know for sure.

And simplespeed is right...I think you're addicted! :D

Dude, your addicted lol.

No doubt. I've gone overboard in the past month, to the point I don't know which knife to carry when I get out of bed.

ETA: The local shop has an A-100 marked down to something like $112 just to get rid of it, I'm thinking about going back to get it.

If you don't I'll give you $112 and you can send it to me. That's a steal for a new one.
