Some my know the story of my RMJ Loggerhead. I picked it up in rough shape in that auction site for a great deal. Once it had arrived I discovered it had all the style and panache of an Estwing hammer. A great tool it is but it just didn't do much for me so I sold it last week.

Along comes the weekend and up pops a near new RMJ Jenny Wren with a reasonable buy it now price. I had just sold the loggerhead and a sebenza so I figured... Why not.

It arrived today in the original box with original padding and paperwork.

All I can saw is WOW! Now this is what I was expecting from RMJ. This is built like a Busse knife. Fantastic fit and finish, sharp everywhere, feels like an extension of your arm, and weighs nothing, yet containing a head heavy balance. It's not built for breaching but if you wanted to carry a tomahawk instead of a knife into a combat zone this is your tool.

Needless to say this one is a keeper.

Photo time.

Have you chopped much with it yet? I'm torn between this and a kestrel. If the wren were a little longer I think that would seal the deal for me.

Nope, no chopping yet. This is really a fighting hawk more than a chopper.

The kestrel would really be the workhorse of the two. The Jenny really replaces a knife.

I see, the jenny wren is the only one they offer atm that I didn't see at a knife show awhile back. I really hope they develop that camp hatchet they teased awhile back.

You would be suprised how well this little hawk chops. I love mine, i carry it a lot, because its so small, and weighs nothing. This thing also flies awesome. It works really well in the mountains. I have a wren, kestrel feather, berserker, and a shrike. The wren out chops them all. Keep it, you'll love it.

Wow surprised to hear that. I guess the thin profile lets it cut deep. Its a keeper for sure.

Nice score Dirtbiker. Please keep us updated on your chopping excursions. My Shrike s13 is my all purpose hawk at the moment.

Just when I counted the wren out you had to chime in with that >.<

I've always been curious about the wren... my next rmj hawk will likely be a feather, but hearing that the wren can hold its own chopping, is definitely a game changer.

Same here, I would like to see some more J Wren owners (actually wren users sound off). I would like to see it's breaching capabilities at all if any.

Love, love, love my Wren. Wish I had seen the Loggerhead up for sale as I've been wanting one. :(

I've had both the Jenny Wren and the Feather and I must say the wren is what I would choose between the two. If your going to get a Kestral Feather you might as well get a Shrike. The Feather is not as durable as the shrike as it is thinner but it feels the same in hand it is also recommend for light breaching while the shrike as we all know can pretty much take anything that you dish out to it. The Jenny Wren is a beast it is very comfortable in the hand and it is razor sharp while it is short you could swing it so fast anything in its way will get shredded. As of right now i only own a shrike and I will always have one the Jenny Wren is a hawk I will own again.

Holy smokes! Did a check on Ebay and you got a steal on that Loggerhead. I spend hours on there and never find deals like that. Although when I sold my Busse Killa Zilla LE on there somebody got a great deal for $500.

Congrats!
I was seriously considering picking up that loggerhead but figured the poll to be too skinny to use and have grown to really like the spike on my shrike to help to pick things up ;)

I have a JW from Oct of last year, it appears to be exactly the same as yours other than I have the OD handles. I absolutely love that hawk, it is my go to hawk due to how light and convenient it is to have around. I've found that it excels at field dressing deer and preparing wood for the camp fire, it bites deep and moves amazing chips for such a small and light weight tool.
I've busted glass with both the spike and the edge of mine, although it's not as tough as my shrike it's no slouch. I did have to touch up the edge a little after breaking the glass but they sharpened up to a razor edge again with little effort.
This is one item of my inventory that I'll never part with.

I'm new to the forum but not new to hawks & blades.

I've gotta say RMJ is one of my favorites when looking at value & quality. I met up with Ryan a few months ago down at his shop when I was stateside on vacation and he's an awesome guy that puts out a great product. The Jenny Wren is an awesome little hawk, I bought one for my wife and she keeps it in the truck :) I also have a Kestrel Feather and a Shrike but a Logger is on my short list.
