Ill post before and after spa pictures when I get it back from the spa but for now I had a couple of questions that I think I already have answered but I just wanted to make sure.

The small sebenza is stamped c 08 which I assume means it was made in march of 2008.
The blade has a "S" stamped on it
The handles do not have the idaho made stamp on them and it still has non perferated washers.
The stop pin is the older style stop pin without the so called "lint grooves"
The pins are the older pins with one hex key and one polished side

So my question is do I have a s30v sebenza made in march of 2008?

Thanks for the help in advance guys/gals

So my question is do I have a s30v YES, THE "S" AND DATE RANGE INDICATE S30V sebenza YES, YOU DO HAVE A SEBENZA :D made in march NO... of 2008 THE 08 INDICATES 2008, BUT "C" INDICATES THAT THE SCALES WERE MADE THE THIRD QUARTER OF THE YEAR, NOT THE THIRD MONTH (AND NOT WHEN THE KNIFE ITSELF WAS MADE)

See the answers in bold red above...note that the "C" indicates only when the scales were made and therefore the *earliest* date after which the knife was made. The Law of the Parts Bin says that without the CRK card you really can't be sure when the knife itself was assembled, shipped or sold. :)

Okay, ya go.

*Your sebenza scales were made in Sep-Dec in 2008. Its not uncommon to see one scale with one letter or year and the other scale with something different.
Here is the scale dating info from my CRK Timeline.
A slabs made from January-April
B slabs made from May-August
C slabs made from September-December

*If your blade has an "S" on it, its indeed S30V

*Your sebenza is just the sebenza that was made before CRK began stamping the blade with Idaho Made on it. Not 110% sure when they changed to the perforated washers. I believe they switched to them Before they began marking the scales Idaho Made.

*As for stop pin, I am not sure what you mean...? All the stop pins are pretty much the same. I have not noticed any difference in any of the ones I have had.

*The screws were the standard screws used on the sebenza before CRK switched to the double hex head design recently.

SO, you basically have a Small 21 Sebenza with S30V that was made between September-December 2008...!

Congrats...!!!

The new stop pins have a groove cut on each end giving them a "dumbbell" look sir. I think that's what he's referring to here. Anyways, your spot on with everything else.

To nyefmaker and Jnewell,

the stop pin used to be a solid pin and now they have two grooves towards the outer portion of of the pin for lint supposidly. My newer 21 with s35vn has the newer stop pin.

And thank you for clearing up the date code, i do appreciate the info.

The stop pics were aways a post with a sleeve, the hex screw to complete it .........is that the older style....? Did they change to the one you mentioned in the recent 21's...? You do mean the blade tang stop pin correct...?

I have a like new large 21 eyes with s35vn, but I dont think I ever took it apart to see since it was new when I got it.

I know the new lanyard pins have that tapered ( collared ) machined ends so they don't fall out like the old ones did when the lanyard was removed from the post.

Minor point on the C08 that Nyefmaker stated correctly and my first post was vague about - the scale date doesn't necessarily indicate when the knife was made, it indicates when the scales were made. The knife would have been assembled at some point after that, and three to six months would not be out of the ordinary at all.

the sleeve you are talking about is solid on the older models and the sleeve on the newer stop pins have two parrallel grooves on each end for lint build up. Thats the only way i know how to explain it without pics. Im pretty sure someone has done a thread on it.
