Hi guys, i've just received a Vic Soldier that i bought used, but i'm a little baffled, y'see one of the rivets is hollow to take a bail loop, now i know the Wenger Soldier has a bail loop but this is definately a Victorinox...at least according to the stamp on the blade heel, opposite side of the heel is stamped 93 (1993?)

So have Victorinox ever fitted a bail to the Soldier at any point in time? or has someone been playing with mine?

I'm greatfull for any light you can shed on the matter, thanks.

Craig.

This pic shows the hollow rivet where a bail should fit

I tried to photograph both sides of the blade heel, stamped Victorinox on one side and 93 on the opposite side, but i couldn't get the stamping to show up in the photo's...sorry...i'm no photographer.

The hollow rivet was to allow the use of the the knife and a piece of string as a plumb bob in connection with the SIG STG57 assault rifle /grenade launcher .

That's a great find. The Dutch army issued those Soldiers too, in 1985 and 1986 only if I'm correct. In 1987 they started issuing a Pioneer.

Thanks for taking the time to reply and post pics gents, it's really appreciated, lots of great info. Thankyou.

I actually got this knife quite cheaply and it's in excellent condition, so i'm really pleased with it.
