I recently bought a gerber clutch to see if i would find a multi tool useful to have with me.I have found that they are quiet useful.I am going to step up to a little better brand it will have to be carried in my pocket i like the leatherman juice xe6 is it to bulky for the pocket?I have no room on my side for another sheath.Feel free to make any other suggestions like i said i am new to multi-tools and yalls expertise would be appreciated.THANKS

I like the juice tools. I have the xe6 and a recently acquired s2. I have been carrying the s2 on lanyard dangling off my belt. I imagine the xe6 could be carried that same way. To keep my pockets free from excess clutter I dangle the s2 just inside my waistband.

Since you don't want something on your belt, that limits the size. Consider something like my personal favorite for pocket carry, which is a Victorinox Explorer swiss army knife (SAK). You lose the pliers from a traditional multitool, but it takes up very little space in your pocket and is highly functional - at least for my needs.

I would find the Juice lineup a little big for pocket carry, but other folks would say not. It does give you the pliers, however.

Looking back, I recall the most difficult part of carrying a multi-tool was remembering to use it, and thinking of new ways to apply it to daily situations. I've used a number of different tools over the years and while there is some difference in quality, the ultimate performance of any tool is the result of the user. You may find a tool which suits you on your job, while another make/model meets your needs around the house. Buying new multi's is half the fun!

i carry my XE6 in the front coin pocket in my jeans.
It fits in there just fine.
Its also attached to a SAK ring on my belt with a quick detach clip.

a SAK is great, so many models to choose from, for whatever your needs are. The Juice series are very good, you should have no problem with pocket carry. If you want something bigger but not a full size MT, think about a Swisstool Spirit, bigger than a Juice but smaller than the Swisstool, LM Surge, or SOG power series but very well liked for tools, feel and quality.

I recently acquired a Juice Pro (same size as XE6). It is a bit thick for pocket carry for me, but doable with heavier pants like jeans. However, I find the little belt pouch easy to deal with. Usually it's in my work bag, which is always within arm's reach.

My other frequent edc combo is a Vic Spirit and a Bark River Mini Canadian in a 2-slot pocket sheath. The Juice will fit in there too.

Leatherman Skeletool will fit your criteria perfectly. You can use the bottle opener to clip it to your belt loop, Boy Scout style, has two Phillips bits and two slotted bits, a full size knife and pliers. This tool isn't any heavier than a SAK, but has tools that are designed to perform like their full size counter parts.

I went with the leatherman kick. Its not to heavy and it was the same length as the folding razor knife i was carrying in my pocket. So i got rid of the razor knife since the kick has a 3 inch knife blade which is a great size for edc and for now i am carrying it in my front pocket until i get me a pocket clip for. I moved the gerber clutch to my keychain because it is a awesome little tool. Nutnfancy did a review on it which was very good you should check it out.

my favorite multis for urban EDC are my Leatherman Skeletool CX and my juice Xe6 as well as my trusty custom scaled Vic Tinker

Edit:

also if you want something skeletool esque get the New Leatherman Freestyle, it comes out sometime in the near future

I'm not a fan of the Juice family , a tad bit too fat for pocket carry , and if I'm gonna wear a pouch I'll carry a real multi tool like a Victorinox Spirit . I would look at one of the Victorinox models that have pliers like the Supertinkers . These pliers are good for small detailed work , and the other implements are vastly superior to those on the Juice , all in a very pocketable package .

The Skeletool CX is another very nice unit , with a lot of coolness an wow factor . That said , I would not want to carry it as my only tool , I usually combine it with my Victorinox Huntsman .

You might want to check out other Leatherman offering that sport a pocket clip .Alas the best of them all is discontinued - the old Sideclip .

The Victorinox Spirit is flatter than the more equipped Jucises , ant not meaningfully heavier . I would carry OK in the back pocket of work clothes . It is extremly capable .
