Having always looked for older knives, 40 to 100+ years old, I've been infected with some strange disease, I think from hanging out at this forum!! ;)
Suddenly the more recent era knives look good to me, and of course, are definitely more affordable. Here's one I picked up today, along with a deck of cards, at a local little militaria show. I quite like the fit and finish, the sterling shield, and the deep blade etch! However I know little else about these. If anyone cares to expound a little, I'd be ever grateful :o
Also, the cards are still sealed. Do they have interesting pictures or are they all the same? Will I devalue them greatly if I open them? They cost little, but if someone needs an unopend box to fill out a collection, I'd hate to spoil them for little reason!

Thanks.I have that knife in a display and didn't want to take it out.I'm afraid Idon't know much about handles and such.Arnold

I too have one of these knives, and a nice knife it is, The knife was commisioned by the Museum of New York, to commemorate the 100 th anniversary, and recent face lift of the Statue back in 1986, The knife was sold, in a box, wooden framed with certificate ( not sure in what qty's they were made ) and also a poster print from an original panting by artist Edward Moran of the unvailing of the Statue of Liberty dated 1886, I understand that there were variations of this knife, some knives made with Staglon handles, and some did not have the Museum logo on the handle. The knife was a Schrade model 124 which fits in between the 123 & 125 Old Timer model sizes.

Thanks Rusty.Mine is the bone, with the logo, and is in the display.I just don't have the paperwork.Arnold

I've got a knife that looks like yours with staglon handles. I thought it was a 127UH - but the blade has that "LTD" on the tang instead of a model number. Does anyone know if it was made as part of this "commemerative" 1986 run?
