New to PM2 Tanto, Concern With Compression Lock

Not new to folders nor Spyderco, just picked up my first PM2 however and my first Spyderco compression lock. I’m surprised by how little of the blade pivot area is held by the compression lock tab.

Again, being new to Spyderco compression lock models, is this something I should be concerned with?

You can see the compression lock tab just barely fully passes the edge of the blade body.

Thanks in advance.

It looks like the width of the lock is fully engaged on the blade. IMO, there’s nothing to be concerned about.
‘Now, if the width of the lock wasn’t on the blade, then I’d be concerned.

Looks normal to me too. Keep in mind that the tip of the lock extends a few millimeters into the tang cutout and at an angle. So the hidden part of the lock sits deeper from the edge. You can look at the wear mark in the cutout when the knife is closed and see just how far it engages. Also as the lock wears in, it will get deeper still. The compression lock is nifty.

And over time it will wear in and move further across

This is largely what I’m hoping for. For some reason my smooth brain equates “closer to the middle” with “better”.

sgt’s link brought confidence in the bite the compression lock tab is currently getting in my new PM2, much less concern about a failure in that component.
