Gents (and ladies),

So let me start by saying that I've never really been a big fan of Spyderco knives. I don't have any specific reasons other than they just didn't "float my boat"...that is, until recently. For some reason, they have really been growing on me lately, and I've decided to take the plunge and get my first Spyderco...yay me!

Anyway, I live in Denver and I'm thinking about heading out to the SFO this weekend and throwing down some $$. Have any of you been out there before? Is the selection good? Will I save money ordering through an online dealer? These are all questlons I'm sure you've already heard from a number of Spyderco noobs like me...

So, here's 3 models I've been considering for my first: The Gayle Bradely CF, the Perrin PPT, and the Manix 2.

What say you? Is one superior over the other?

Thanks in advance!

If you live in Denver, you're pretty much right there in Spyderco country lol (they're headquartered in Golden).

I'd buy from either a store or a reputable online retailer. You might save a few bucks off ebay, but there are a lot of fakes floating around.

All it takes is one Spydie to get hooked. I always thought they were a bit weird looking...then I picked one up and tried using it...and instantly found out why so many love them. The ergonomics are 2nd to none.

I cant imagine you being disappointed with any of the 3 you mention, all are very well built. However, Im gonna vote USA on this (The Manix 2). My favorite model to come from Spyderco in years. Another one that you will likely fall in love with right away if you give it a chance is the caly 3, its the king of slicers imo.

As for the Spyderco outlet, I think you will pay more than an on-line store which is expected, but some think its worth a little extra it to be able to hold and see the knife before committing to the purchase.

I wouldnt say alot of fakes, but there are a couple of which can be spotted a million miles away. You can get some real good deals on ebay as long as you dont get too excited. Always do your research before hittin that bid button and all should work out fine

I am also new to Spydies, same as you I always thought they were weird looking. I got hooked by the Manix 2 sprint run with the Carpenters steel and flat grind. Very sweet knife and has been my daily carry since I got it and I have some pretty nice folders in the stable.............

Thanks for the help gents. I'm leaning toward the Manix 2 because it's USA made, but the Gayle Bradley CF is one tough looking knife. I've got a thing for carbon fiber!!!

They have a pretty good selection there and it certainly worth the trip up to take a look at what they have. Their prices are discounted but may not be as good as getting it online but it's really neat to be able to handle so many different Spidies. I almost always walk away with something and it is cool see other non-knife items such as posters, books, pins, etc.

The staff there is so helpful and very nice, willing to let you handle anything your heart desires.

Here are a few picture I took there:

All 3 are excellent choices. I own 2 of the 3 and would pick the Gayle Bradley if I could only have one. That knife can take anything you throw at it. The Manix is certainly no slouch either.

Rickmarkhardt, this forum is for DISCUSSION, not selling. If you wanna sell here(in the appropriate forum), you need to pony up $25 first.
