So I want to stone wash one of my knives, my kizer kesmec. I'm not sure if this is the right way to go about it. But I was going to just put the blade in a small container with smooth stones and shake it like crazy for an hour and alternate with throwing it in the dryer. I've googled it a few times and it seems those are the basics so let me know if I'm missing something.

Secondly, I'm worried about the edge chipping. I can get a razor edge on a dull knife no problem. But I still have a problem working out chips. All I have is the standard spyderco triangle sharpmaker with the coarse and fine stones. I do not have the funds to buy extra equipment at this time.

So is there a secret to avoid chipping the edge? If it was aus 8 I'd probably be able to work it out, but I'm not super comfortable yet with s35vn. I'm clearly pretty new to sharpening as well.

Any tips or advice?

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to protect the edge if you want an even stonewash covering the blade. It's going to roll/chip, just part of the process. However, I would just throw it in the dryer for 30 to 60 minutes and see how you like it. Or, shoot me an email at knifeknerdcustoms at gmail and we can work something out if you don't want to deal with resharpening it on your sharpmaker. Good luck!
