Hi..my name's Don...I'm a Busseholic.

Only recently became aware of Strider Knives. Appears the AR is the folder I've been searching for.

Anyway, the major problem over at Busse is the LONG wait for delivery...this may not be a problem for some people, but it is for me. There is nothing I can do about it...when I see a new knife I want, I want it soon...preferrably now, but soon at least!

So, Strider guys (and girls?) does it take months to own one of these gorgeous knives? Is ordering directly from the factory the preferred way to go?

Damn man you can visit the Strider Guys! Check the dealers and friends section of the Strider web page for dealers.

Yeah I guess you have been waiting a really long time for your Busse folder to be delivered considering there isn't one.....yet :D

Dark,

Thank you for explaining to me why I am still waiting. ;)

BTW...do you own any Striders? If so, how you like 'em (or it)?!

Don, yep over the last year or so I've tried several Busse and Strider creations. If I am remembering correctly the list below are the Strider knives I've tried or still own...

AR (so sweet! :D)
EBLS
EBS
SA
SLCC

I like Strider designs as much as I like Busse designs, the two worlds are so far apart I don't even compare them anymore. In all honestly I used to stack them up against each other but have realized that was pointless and stupid of me, both manufacturers are first rate with unique styles all to themselves.

The majority of my usage experience lies with the AR, and EBLS. Both knives served me well, and now that I have an AR again (as of this morning :D) I'm expecting it to be a constant carry just as the first one. This is my first experience with S30V, so I've been really excited to see how it performs.

Hey Don, funny stuff about the Busse folder.

If you didn't know, they operate a shop out of Oceanside... that was my haunt from 87-93 or so, long before I was into knives. Before Mission was blocked from going directly to the Pier, before Hill Street became PCH. I wonder where they're at. That would be cool if they let guys like you and me walk in and talk about blades.

I'd think that they would sell the knives at the list price so they don't cut out the dealers or distributors that help the knife world grow. Could be wrong?

tripleaughtdesign.com or tadgear.com have some of the new ones fresh in... I'd grab one if I had the cash.

Thank you for the info, Krept...

We (the natives) still call it Hill Street...Mission is 'bout the only original street name left..they gave the others a bunch of cutesy names like "Pier View" and "Surfrider" :barf:

Anyway, do you (or does anyone) know where the shop is physically located...I am about 3 blocks from the beach half way between Cassidy and Oceanside Blvd...wouldn't surprise me if it was in walking distance.

Who among us cannot help but to get excited over Strider and Busse designs. Busse has greatly reduced wait times with most models shipping right away. There was even a post about same-day shipping on select models from a military overrun. If only they could speed up on the folder project a bit.

Don,

I just picked up 1 wed 05/15/02,I couldn't wait for the S30V so I got one in BG-42. The place (www.countycomm.com) had 1 AR left. You might want to check them out if you can't find another.
Check out this thread

Good Luck,

Ed

by the Strider quality of execution. I just happened to be on the TAD site the am they had GB's in S30V and on a whim and partly b/c I have waited 2 years for a non-forthcoming Busse, got one. I was astonished at how such a stout, robust knife could be so finely tuned. NO blade play, solid lock up, wicked sharp edge. The handle is amazingly comfortable in several grips. Believe it or not, it really is pocketable and if you dont want to carry in the pocket, it fits into surprisinglyy compact pouches...such as the kind for sunglasses or new digi-cams. I am a convert for this style knife and see it being used more than my fixed blades. The Gb is just too handy not to have real nearbye or on you. Take a look a few posts down to Mick's "new stuff" and check out the new framelock. It screams. That (when it comes out)and my GB will cover 80% of my knife/tool needs..with a SAK or multi tool covering the rest.

Wait? Wait? Me hate wait. Me want knife yesterday. Strider guys deliver quick. Matt, Vinnie, Mike at Badass, Osogrande are all quick deliveries. Thing is, ya gotta watch the forums fairly steady. When theres a post about an AR or GB, ya gotta jump on it. Good luck Don. :D

Yo, Nimrod...we must talkin' about different Busse's.
:)

I ordered an SJ on 3/29 and so far nothing in my mailbox..not even a courtesy email with updated shipping information or reason(s) for delay. They sure were quick about snappin' up the $$, though...not impressed with their operation.

Don,
Apparently Busse has designed a new sheath for the Satin Jack and
were waiting to ship the Satin Jacks until the new sheathes arrived.
Should be shipping this week. Check out the thread in the Busse forum. Take care.
