I've been needing a good fixed blade for a while now. I kept find myself looking at options online but then when the time came to pull the trigger I always held off or somehow managed to find myself buying another folder.

I went on a solo camping trip not too long ago up into the Smokey's and decided to go the car camping route. It was about 18 degrees out and I was digging thru my gear to look for something to chop wood with to get a fire going and...well, let's just take a look back the the very first sentence.

So, as of today I won't have that problem again. I just picked up a lightly used BK2 off a local forum here in GA for a good deal and I'm digging it so far. I've been looking at all the mods and customs people have posted pics of and I'm very tempted to try something out but I'm also afraid of messing up. We shall see.

Here she is for now...

Good looking knife you got there, and welcome to our corner of the asylum!

The beauty of the BK2 is that if you do screw up a mod, replacing the knife and starting over isn't going to break the bank. It is pretty hard to mess up a mod enough to really make in unsalvageable, but if you get there, a replacement won't put you in the poor house. Once you get that thing where you want it, you are going to find yourself addicted to the things, so be prepared to see a bunch of other sharps things in black show up on your doorstep!

I fully agree. I know it's cheap enough to not have to worry about it...plus I got it for a decent used price. I guess I just want to try a patina or something on it but I've never messed with anything like that before.

Ahh the mighty BK2. My first and still my fav. Very reliable blade. Use it well

Well after some scrubbing out in the snow flurries I've managed to stop at this point and I'm happy so far.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get some more time to work on it before heading in for night shift.

Nice looking BK-2 you got there but what's that inferior little knife doing in the pic?

Just kidding! Welcome to Beckerville where all the edges are sharp and all the steel is Awesome!!!:D

That's my toothpick. Was making use of the bathroom counter top.

They are fun to make your own. Did you strip under the scales as well? What part of Atlanta are you in? Hailing from Newnan myself.

I did my best. At this time the front as blackstraps have some black on them still. It was starting to snow out while I was working on it so I kind of took a break and put the grips back on. When I get off shift in a few days I'll work on it more.

I'm up in the Alpharetta area currently.

Loving the BK2 right now. It's a beast. I plan on giving a patina finish to it. It's my first time doing any mods myself. Still nervous about the outcome.

I like that. 1:41 post about the new BK2. 5 hours later, make over is done. Nice job btw.

That's one of the cooler patinas I've seen so far. I gotta try that, I think I can tell what you're doing. It's pretty smart.

Thanks guys!

I really have no idea what I'm doing but I'm liking the results so far.

I am doing a bunch of mustard layers. Some more obvious lines and them some dabbled on in splotches to eventually mellow it out.

It is pretty cool to tinker with stuff.
