Howdy everyone. I don't know much about knives but I've been holding onto four that belonged to my dad about 20-25 years ago when he was a dealer. I've done Google searches but having participated in other online forums I know the best place for info on any particular topic is a place like this where enthusiasts gather. So I'm hoping someone (with a little patience for a noob like me) can give me the lowdown on these knives. Thanks.

Two Coast lock blades - one American (stainless Taiwan), one German
Two Puma knives - White Hunter and Skinmaster

The boxes are a bit beat up after being moved around for a couple decades, but the knives have never been used or sharpened. Pretty much what we'd call NOS on a guitar forum ("New Old Stock" - don't know if that's a term used for knives).

I believe Coast was a Colonial brand, discontinued sometimes in the 1990's or early 2000's.

The two Puma are classics. The White Hunter is still in production. I'm not sure if the Skinmaster is.
If you visit the Puma website, you can find out if the Skinmaster is still a current model.

I don't know any details, such as steel used. The White Hunter should have a genuine stag handle is all I "know".

Thx. That's about as far as I've gotten in finding out anything about them too. If the Coast brand was discontinued it was probably in the early 2000's. Pretty sure these knives came from '95-'99. Dad still has a Puma catalog from '99, so that's the latest year he would have acquired these.

Also - Can I not add an avatar? I tried but it says "You do not have permission to view this page or perform this action."

Need a paid membership for that feature.

I guess I should say that I know the wholesale prices of the two Coast knives back in the mid to late '90's. They were fairly cheap. Not sure how much a retailer would have marked them up, but I have a general idea. The Puma knives - on the other hand - I have no idea.

I think there is a Coast folder in the back of my wife’s car. Still new in the package. I think we got it in the last couple of years.

I acquired my Coast folder (in 7Cr17 blade steel!) when I found it in the spare tire well of a used Mercedes S600 BiTurbo (since resold) I bought from a guy who may have been tied to the Russian mob. It's a POS knife, but it was worth the $0 I paid for it, and it now lives in the toolkit in my trunk.
