Hows it going guys. I'm new here, not sure how all this works but I know this is where I get my answers to the questions I may have. I just started collecting hunting knives about 8 months ago. It wasn't until today that I found out that probably most of my knives that I've been collecting are "garbage". The reason why I say that is Because today, After visiting this site for the first time, I seen a post about the hunting knives off Ebay and it talked about how most the knives on ebay are garbage. You see, I started participating in the Ebay knife Auctions and that's how my collection started. Now I feel like I've wasted alot of money on thses knives. I'm glad I found this forum because obviously I have alot to learn. Where would be a great place to shop for knives? What's a good type of knife to start a collection with. Preferably something not that expensive but obviously not that cheap eaither lol. Thank you in advance.

Thank you! I just have to figure out how to navigate around on this site. I'll figure it out sooner or later. Now I need to find the search function you're talking about.

Did you like the knives you bought and were you excited about starting a knife collection the day before you read “they were garbage”? What changed, someone else’s opinion?

Now you are at a point where you need to educate yourself and decide what matters to you.
Are you buying something only because it’s aesthetically pleasing? Do you plan to use your knives, if so what are the intended uses. Do you intend to collect knives to resell as an investment one day? Does country of origin matter to you? Learn about several steel types, learn about handle materials, learn about the manufacturing process.

Search here and as question, many will give you a helping hand.

If you are on a smartphone the search is the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner.

Hey, thank you! To be honest, I didn't plan on collecting knives. What happen was, I participated in one of the Ebay Auctions and got addicted to bidding. Seeing if I could win a auction, i didn't want to lose lol And all of a sudden, I accumulated a bunch of knives. So now, I think I want to resale. I have so many knives that I started to sell them on a different site. I like the way they look. I like learning about them. I just learned what Full tang means and drop point. Things like that, I'm barley learning. I think it would be cool to get into collecting and selling knives.

Throw some pics up of some of the knives you like so far, and let us know what you like about them. From there people will be able to put you on to other makers/brands that offer good knives of a similar style.

Most people when starting a new hobby make a few silly purchases, it's all part of the fun. If you enjoy the knives you've bought so far then they have value(to you) , regardless of whether they are flash Harry collectors items or Pakistani specials

ok cool. I'll do that. I need to figure out how to post a picure.

I know right now I have alot of Bowie knives, alot of Skinner knives, a few Karambit knives and the ones I find interesting that I have are the Antler and bone handle knives. I'll post a picture when I figure out how to lol I'm on my phone and it's a little confusing.

And yes, alot of them are from good ol' paki

Reselling inexpensive knives isn’t a sound business model.
It’s time to slow down or even stop for a while and figure out what you want to do, and why you want to do it.

But someone has to do it right? I'm not looking to start a business but I get what your saying. I'm just doing this for fun right now, I have alot to learn about knife collecting before I do anything.

It won't take long to catch on!!! Me personally I just buy what is eye catching to me!!!!!

Thank you. Ya , I feel like I'm the same way. I'm not rich so I can't buy the expensive knives lol I guess if I want high quality, I'll pay the price but I just like the way they look. I like the different styles, different bladez, good and bad, I want to collect them all.

Check out the edc today thread and the fixed n folder thread!!!!! Lots of great stuff every day from old school to cutting edge!!!!!😉

Let me share with you my personal “drama”:
Heritage pieces -> AliExpress -> local industrial brands -> good worldwide brands -> custom bladesmiths -> class of bladesmithing -> my shop -> making knives!!! Hahaha. This one of the infinity example that can “bite” you… welcome man, there is no turning point. Enjoy the poison, learn as much as you can and you will see how big/interesting/entertaining/exotic world is this knife scenario.
