There seems to be a bunch of people on this site who are really good with their photography, way more than with other types of sites that I've been on. Can't think of any reason, off the cuff, that knife nuts should be any better at photography than other types of enthusiasts but I'll accept that.

I've been a watcher here for a while but never posted before. I've got 5 Mcustas, a couple of Benchmades, a custom knife, and a custom Cold Steel, so maybe I qualify as a minor knife nut myself.

I tried to post a picture but it didn't work. How do you post pictures here?

Still trying to add a picture, OK, that worked. Never bring a gun to a knife forum, that's what I always say.

Nice - you're reminding me about the advantages of natural sun light that are so easy to forget in the studio. Really nice pictures.

You asked, let me see if I can answer why the photography is better here.
First of all, knife people are the best people I've found, giving and caring. I don't think there's many secrets in knife making. The makers are all to willing to share their knowledge and techniques. It's not surprising then that the people who have some photographic skills are willing to share what they know with the makers, and collectors.

We come to BFC because we love knives. Many of us came for the knives and stayed for the people. Part of the joy of collecting is sharing your collection with folks that can appreciate it. Given the choice, most of us would prefer looking at great photos rather than, out 0f focus, off color, or poorly composed photos. So, it's all for selfish reasons. ;)

Very true, PhilL! Additionally, TomD... you'll find that there's a fairly active knife economy flowing on BFC here. Lots of buying, selling, and trading, both of custom knives and production knives.

Many, many people have found that high-quality photos go a long way toward making a transaction happen. It's hard to make somebody want your knife if they can't see it!

Welcome to BFC, you'll like it here (and you're off to a great start with the photos you posted above  )!

Tom is right. Some of you are really good with cameras. Some of the photos are really professional. I need to work on that.!!!!

I LOVE that first Mcusta with the butterflies on the handle. What is that called? Is that a custom one that I have no chance of finding another for myself? :)
