These are the last 3 Slippies I have bought. All have carbon steel blades.

The Case has the CV blades, and can be had under $60.
The one in the middle is a Queen Mini Trapper (3.5" closed), and has D2 blades. They make a whole line of these and I think they can pretty much all be had at or under $80.
The one on top is a Great Eastern Cutlery with 1095 blades. That particular model with Stag is more than your stated budget, but they offer a bunch of different models in your price range with the 1095 carbon steel blades.

You can find links to dealers at the manufacturers websites. These are just a few of the makers that are out there. Shop around and you will find more than you can imagine.

Good luck! These are far more addictive than the tactical folding knives, IMO.

The Tidioute brand, and the Northfield brand - both made by Great Eastern Cutlery - use 1095 for their blades.

Queen makes some patterns in 1095.

Case makes some patterns in "chrome vanadium" which is really fine steel.
Not pure "carbon steel" but almost.

Boker (the models made in Solingen, Germany) uses carbon steel for most of its slipjoints.

I can vouch for the Queen City Classic line in 1095 steel with the acorn shield. They can be had for 50 at collectorknives.

would probably get you all 3 of these! 3 of my favorites and the stockman gets carried every single day for almost a year now:thumbup:
They are Case CV similar i believe to 1095 and it sharpens up nice and takes on a patina...they really should offer it in all their patterns
or hit fleabay and shop around you can find good stuff there from time to time

bigasswhiteboy,

What are you going to be using your new carbon steel knife for exactly?

nothing special just every day stuff im just tired of stainless

Rodger that.. I recon you will be pretty pleased with any of the new knives being produced these days regarding the good quality high carbon steel they offer. Queen for instance has a good 1095 that is properly quenched and heat treated and will perform well. As does W.R. Case's Chrome Vanadium steel. I believe you will also enjoy watching the wonderful blues, purples, greys, and maroons as well as other varied swirls of color that will appear in the blade steel as you season your knife and as time marches on. As long as you maintain your knife properly and wipe her down after use with a little soap and water, set out and let dry, and then wipe her down with a little mineral oil or tool oil for protection, you will be very pleased with the results all the way around with your new knife.

Best,

Anthony

Don't forget the sweet-looking new AG Russell Working Man's Barlow. Check it out here.
