Knives are tools.... gold and silver are investments. If your happy with it then it was a good deal, dont think that your going to make a easy buck in this hobby.

Good investment......no

but a good deal for a 0561 with a lockbar insert for sure, they usually sell for around $300 on the bay (sometimes more)

I have a pretty nice Ghost Jade G10 scale for the 0561, let me know in you're interested.

Seems like a "valuation" question and only paid BF members at the Gold Level or above are entitled to the answer to such a question. The OP does not have such standing.

Thank you, no hobby, just was time for a new one for me and I purchased this one.

Thank you, I like the way you worded this feed back, with not a good investment but a good deal, can you explain why? Also what does a Ghost jade G10 look like

One last thing,
The lock bar insert, why is that important, does it make it more valuable or is it just for looks?

Oops sorry I will make sure to check myself on this

Are the ti kit and blue glow scale part of the $180 deal? If so, it is a great buy.
Hi, yes both the blue ti kit and the G-10 blue glow were part of the deal, I also got the original G10 that comes with that model? I just liked it because of the reviews of the ZT brand plus I think the blue glow was cool

To my knowledge, all ZTs come with a steel lock bar insert. The idea is that while titanium is a very tough material, the steel tang of the blade and cause wear (and thus play) over time. Now this can take years and years of heavy use. Chris Reeve basically invented the TI on steel lock up, and many many of those knives are still going strong.

That said, even CRK is moving to a ceramic ball lock up to save wear and tear on the titanium lock. The industry of production knives is just going a similar direction.

So to answer your question: the steel insert does nothing the value or rarity of your knife beyond making it like every other ZT.

The first generation of 560/561's did not come with the lockbar insert. Originally some people complained of some sticking with the titanium bar directly on steel blade. I have one of these original 561's with no insert, but the lock stick on mine was minimal and short lived. And I'm a fidget flipper, so mine has seen a little lockup action. Without specifically "valuing" your knife, I'd say you got a pretty good deal. Now enjoy it and continue to share pics.

I payed slightly more for a used one very recently, as a birthday present to myself, and without any of the extras incl., so I'd say you definitely got a good deal...

As for the "investment" part, without saying what I think it is worth, I will say it is a brand with a pretty devout fanbase, it is a long since discontinued model that was very well recieved, which did cost well north of $200 when they were new. So considering you got it for less then $200 with additional hardware included, and then also considering someone like me just recently paid a wee bit more then $200 to have one shipped to my door, if you would ever look to resell it you shouldn't have too hard of a hard time finding someone interested.
So I'd say it was a great deal and a good investment all things considered...

What a great knife though! If I were you I would simply Enjoy the "#$%+" out of it like I'm doing with mine...

Serial number is the number of knives produced. Yours is more recent because of the big number and it has the insert that earlier ones didn't.

As others have said, its a tool and not really a "collectors" knife, use it and enjoy it.

The people that are asking +$300 for these (lockbar insert or not) are insane.

I've had tons of these in the past and always lost out when selling them.

Customs or very rare sprint runs are the only thing you might even consider an "investment".......if you don't use them.

and google ghost jade g10, its just non-dyed natural G10.......my personal favorite.

Nah, the early first gen models didn't have an insert and actually there was a few other early ZT models like the 0551 that didn't have any inserts...

also, the insanely expensive Kershaw Tilt didn't have any insert (shame)

I've always hated non insert knives and refuse to buy them anymore........this is why I don't own CRK's anymore, its a horrible design IMO and while it might be ok at first........it eventually fails, can't even tell you how many sub $500 ti frame locks that I've had with no insert that turned to complete shit over time.

I didnt get into ZT until about 4 years ago. I didnt know some of them were pre-insert.

I get what you are saying about the Ti/steel lock up. Part of me wanted that old school Reeve lock of the Sebenza 21. However, after handling the Inkosi with the ceramic ball, I get the reason behind it. I do think it is a durability upgrade going this route. I was skeptical at first, but I get it now.

The bad thing about a CRK is that I kinda kills ZT for me. I have my de assisted 303 that will always be my go to work knife, but I dunno if whatever ZT is offering will quite do it for me again.

I mean, if you don't abuse the knife then you might get some years out of it before you develop lock-rock but damn if it doesn't always come to that....lol

I've had a few Sebenza's and Umnumzaan's but I always end up selling them, no insert plus something about the brand just doesn't do it for me, I don't get the hype...

There's actually a lot of the old ZT knives that I prefer to the newer ones, I really wish they would do a reissue of the ZT 0600 and maybe make it a 3-3.5" blade.....too bad the 0600 sells for like $700-$800 these days.

Also a ZT version of the Kershaw Tilt would be amazing.
