Just picked up an new flashlight today. It's the X5 by INOVA good googamooga is this thing redundantly bright. I spent the rest of the day at work blinding people:eek:. Sometimes managing a knife/gadget store is too much fun.

I remember another thread about this little tank- I love mine, was only able to get it in the black color, but man are these tough and bright! I wouldn't have bought my Nightbuster 10X if I had bought the Inova first...
Yeah, I would have bought it anyway...

Sure is Dexter. Mines the Titanium look alike with white bulbs it also comes in black and with blue bulbs.Red,Gree, yellow ,and orange are soon to be available.

CD,
Keep in mind it's a LED light with no refelctor so it's beem reange is only about 75-100 feet and for that distance it's awsome. I don't like sirefires because the beam is too narrow, the X5 has a nice wide flood beam and lasts alot longer and is cheaper to maintain. I got about 12 hours strait on time.(I left it on in my pocket all day to test it) and I'm on hour 18 with the energizer e2 batteries. IMHO a better light than the E2 enless your looking for long beam range. It's also waterproof to 150 feet.

Clay and Recoil - thanks for the info. I thought I saw something like it on Chesapeake's site. Looks pretty neat, might get one later down the road.

The X5 is a wonderful light. I carry mine everyday. Some say that the LED are overdriven, but I don't really care...

When I want bright, I grab my M2, the X5 is not as bright as some of my surefires but the burn time sure is a lot better. It's a great general purpose light. I carry the suresfires as well and put the spent 123's from the Surefires into the X5 for the rest of their useful life. Surefires and the X5 seem to compliment one another in this way.

Congrats on your new kwel light,

S.

I wonder how the X5 compares to the Streamlite Baton lite ?

One of the best websites I have seen to compare LEDs is The Punishment Zone ...although it is a bit out of date.

FYI, for max brightness in a <$$ package, I carry the Streamlite Propolymer 3C (police version) light. It is a bit large, but very bright (12K CP), waterproof (200M), has a 2-filament/pin bulb, and a momentary blink endcap/constant-on feature.

Though...I have always wanted to get a smaller tac-light like a Sure Fire Z2 or E2...

I have the Streamlight Batonlite as well as the Inova. I think the Inova is brighter; it definitely seems tougher and just has a lot of "cool" factor. It doesn't have the end cap push button like the Batonlite. The thing I don't like about the Batonlite is how you can activate it by turning the two halves; I would have been happy with just the end switch...so now it's in my daughter's bag.

Hey Kelt,

Do you (or anyone else here) think (or have reason to know) if the X5 would stand up to use as a Kuboton-type device??? I definatly like the look of it better than my Streamlite...

Well, the LEDs aren't recessed very deeply inside the head, but they are each in a little "hollowed out" recess. I really think the body would hold up for a good smack- they supposedly drove a jeep over one for a demo; you'd have to ask the manufacturer about the details on that one! It's very tough, but not that long- 4 5/8" long and around 3/4" thick, so there's a bit sticking out each end (I think JSP's palm sticks aren't much longer, so I'm guessing it would work okay at that length, but I like a bit more). I'd stick with my Nightbuster 10X for a good "smacker/kubotan" - it's longer, and very strong. But I always have a palm stick or a koppo stick, both made by Michael Enad, in a jeans pocket or jacket pocket.

Hmmm..Thanks for your info Kelt! I bet the new Arc-LS that I'm waiting for would make a good short stick-type weapon if needed.
