Okay, I've been buying more 'friendly-looking' toys lately....here's one of the first I've bought...
Nightbuster 8X Flashlight...I found it on
http://www.glow-bug.com

If you click on the LED Flashlights, there is also a Ledda Nightbuster with 4 LEDs- thinner; also a 4 LED Nightbuster, I guess it's the same size as the 8 LED one, but with only 4 LEDs for longer battery life....anyway...
With the 3 AA batteries in this thick-aluminum walled light, it weighs over 1/2 lb. (at least according to my scale)...It looks bomb-proof. 7 1/2" long; 4 1/8" around the head; 3 1/4" around the body...has a nice built-in lanyard (I cut it out of the hole and replaced it with nice paracord)...one can see how this could be a nice fist-load...but it just seems too nice to use like that!....no rings or dark spots when the light is on. It actually looks like some sort of broadway light with all 8 LEDs shining! The end cap twists to turn it on, but it doesn't look like it would turn on by accident- it's got a gritty feel to turning the knob (this is reassuring to me)...also, there are two O rings instead of one in the interior of the end cap....
Very bright, nice warm glow...according to the instructions the LEDs would last for 60 years if used for 4 hours a day.
So, out of a possible :) :) :) :) :)
I give this flashlight a score of :) :) :) :) :)

I've got the Nightbuster 4X Ledda. Its construction is almost identical to the AA Mag, but longer to fit the third battery. Other than the number of LED's, does anyone know how the 8X compares to the 4X, how are they different, etc.?

TIA

The Ledda and 8X are actually pretty close in light output. The Ledda is a bit dimmer. The Ledda is driving each LED at a whopping 94mA and the 8X is driving them at 62mA, still high, but better. The Ledda is by far the brightest 4 LED light I have seen, but it should be driving the led's that hard. I don't know how long the LED will last being driven that hard. I ahve used my light for two sets of batteries without a problem.
