Okay, I saw this in a friend's catalog and told him to order one for me...a pic can be seen at:

This is a nice little baton by Monadnock... 6.5" when closed, and 9.5" when snapped open (ya gotta really snap it - it's very heavy-duty)...I was hoping to use it as a keychain, but since it weighs over 10 oz. according to my old scale I'm not sure what kind of damage that might do to my car's ignition switch! However, it fits very nicely into a back pocket (and it does have a keychain ring on its end)...
The lock is very secure- it's the one that this company uses on some of their larger models...cam and ball bearing...so you push in a little button at the base to close it. The steel is 4130 hardened seamless alloy steel. The tip is actually a knob and I know that it can do some serious damage...put it this way, I definitely sent my phone book to the phone-book-graveyard when I hit it.
I was originally looking for the ASP baton- the smaller one that they used to make...but this one is like the ASP on steroids!! My only complaint is that it may not be the best small baton for keychain carry (at least for car keys)- you sacrifice less weight to get more strength, but it's still a nice little gadget. Without even snapping it open you could most likely break bones with this...it has a nice knurled grip on it as well...so I'd say on a scale of
I'd give it a
and 1/2.....
(anybody know how to cut one of these smiley faces in half?!)...
