Okay, I saw this in a friend's catalog and told him to order one for me...a pic can be seen at:
http://store.yahoo.com/botach/monautjr.html

This is a nice little baton by Monadnock... 6.5" when closed, and 9.5" when snapped open (ya gotta really snap it - it's very heavy-duty)...I was hoping to use it as a keychain, but since it weighs over 10 oz. according to my old scale I'm not sure what kind of damage that might do to my car's ignition switch! However, it fits very nicely into a back pocket (and it does have a keychain ring on its end)...
The lock is very secure- it's the one that this company uses on some of their larger models...cam and ball bearing...so you push in a little button at the base to close it. The steel is 4130 hardened seamless alloy steel. The tip is actually a knob and I know that it can do some serious damage...put it this way, I definitely sent my phone book to the phone-book-graveyard when I hit it.
I was originally looking for the ASP baton- the smaller one that they used to make...but this one is like the ASP on steroids!! My only complaint is that it may not be the best small baton for keychain carry (at least for car keys)- you sacrifice less weight to get more strength, but it's still a nice little gadget. Without even snapping it open you could most likely break bones with this...it has a nice knurled grip on it as well...so I'd say on a scale of :) :) :) :) :)

I'd give it a :) :) :) :) and 1/2.....
(anybody know how to cut one of these smiley faces in half?!)...

Here's how to cut a smilie in half. :) Cool toy as well.

Hey Kelt,

I'm glad to see Monadnock making a baton like the old ASP mini keychain baton. I've always wanted one as well!

Why not carry it tucked in your pants with your keys hanging out?

Is the little knob thing at the tip solid and maki it tip heavy? If so, OUCH!!!

Cool...I want one :)

Yes, I have carried it that way - it's heavy enough that the keys (and Photon II) won't ever drag it out.
The tip seems heavy..it's solid and made of some sort of serious plastic or rubber type material...the company claims that it's made that way to transfer more energy (I guess so it doesn't just cause a bounce-repercussion kinda strike)...all I know is even a light tap on my thigh left a welt and serious ouchey. I have handled the small keychain ASP baton- this thing is like it's big brother, built like a tank!
Of course, the weight factor does come into play...

Be careful ... bought one of these three weeks ago from them. Paid for the 3 day shipping, still have not gotten it. :(

Be careful is right -- check out BGU for Botach. They have a very variable record. I haven't had any problem the couple of times I bought stuff from them, and their prices can be real good. But if they don't have something ins tock, you can be in for a rough ride.

Botach
Yeah you gotta call them before you order. I ordered several tomahawks and waited for them for a month before they emailed me and said my order was cancelled because they didnt have any.:(
On the other hand I have ordered some other stuff from them and promptly got them.:)
