Hi SOG Fans,

Behind my back, our new Marketing Director (Matthew) has prepared our website to be updated with our new for 2002 products. Actually, he and I talked about doing this; I just didn’t know he was actually working on it! I like surprises of this nature!

I have JUST uploaded it to our server and it is NOW there for all to see. You guys are the first to be told about it!

There are two places for you to go.

First is there are two tabs/links placed on the right hand side of our home page (”2002 SHOT Show” and “Why SOG?”: http://www.sogknives.com

Second, and more importantly, are the new product images and descriptions. You can link to it here: http://www.sogknives.com/newprod.htm

Here's a preview!

At the time of this writing, we're working on getting out a few "kinks," but all the main images and text is there.

Please enjoy and tell us what you think about our new TOYS!!!

Take care!

The Field Pup IS AUS6.
Thanks for the news :D

Ron, did puppy do something wrong not to deserve BG-42? Would SOG consider an experimental run of puppies in BG-42? Like 100 blades or so :)

P.S. And soon is approximatelly when?

The new Flash series looks awesome, and spring assisted too? Wow! There goes my money, I will have to have this knife.

Hi Gator,

To be honest, I was caught off guard when I heard the Field Pup was AUS6. I'm uncertain as to the reasoning for this (Cost? Targeted capability? Whatever...), but I will ask Spencer and let you guys know.

Thanks Ron.

Don't forget to ask about the special run (as a last resort;))
I really liked the way that pup looks.

Ron,
Whats the list price on the EOD powerlock? I could use one of those in my field pack!! All the new stuff looks good!!

Hi Danny,

EOD PowerLock: $79.95 MSRP

SOG has a 25% discount (off MSRP) for LEO and other public safety personnel (such as firefighters, EMTs, etc.).

Correction!

It looks like the Field Pup will be AUS8 not AUS6. During the development stages, specs are very fluid.

Ron,
I have to ask, on the flash are there ambi thumbstuds. It looks like there probably aren't but you can only see the one side of the knife. I get the feeling this is going to be another Kershaw debacle with 90% of their assisted openers being for right handed folks only.
Why make a knife with an ambi clip, but not ambi thumbstuds:(

Hi Marcangel,

The Flashs' thumbstuds will be double-sided. For those wanting to understand this new clips a bit better, it will be nearly identical to the Mini X-Ray Vision. It is a very innovative design.

Hi Ron,

Is there a chance to post here high res pix of pup and flash? like 800x600 and higher?

Thank you! I thank you, UW Mitch thanks you, Underdog thanks you etc... I personally like SOG products (and have too many to list)! I've really liked the assisted openers from Kershaw and Timberline and was waiting for SOG to get into the act:) . I think the quality of your product is usually better than the aforementioned and the Flash hit's the nail on the head size wise. Now, just dress it up a little with some nice ironwood or cocobolo scale or inserts, a carbon fiber version, carbon fiber and wood....a little damascus..STOP me...I think I just re-created my Kubasek with assisted opening!Oh and I hate to say it but A.G. Russel is right the Jet is one ugly knife. Cuts like a demon..but that is ONE UGLY KNIFE!:D

Let me mention a bit more about new stuff.

Flash Series: Our goal was to do the "assisted opening" technology right! One manufacturer, the knife almost has too much "jump" or "kick" to it, almost leaving the user a bit nervous when flicking it open. The prototypes we have and the direction we're going is for smooth, even and managable action. What I've handled has sure fulfills this! Also, the "starting point" of the assist kick-in starts sooner than others. Closing is very secure, but we also have a lock-tab to force the blade securely shut. We have color handle options in the works...they do look fine!

SOG Blink: This will not be officially "released" on our site yet, but it will be a small (about 2-2.5" blade) assisted opening knife featuring a lockback (instead of the bolt lock on the Flash). We will have a rough prototype at the SHOT Show, but nothing is close enough to production. We will take orders for it.

Updated Tomcat: It will feature a thumbstud. For the Sogwinder fans, the Sogwinder II will be discontinued.

We do have other things in the works that we're not ready to discuss. Look for more in the assisted opening line, but yet to be discussed models, which will have a higher price point (insert here higher-end materials and technology). Not yet sure if any of this will be a 2002 release. It is no secret that SOG Blackworks is always developing new stuff. We have many, many more designs that we can bring to market. So we introduce the best of them and what we feel will be the biggest sellers.
