I just got these this weekend from a machine shop in Ma that was going out of business. The press is 30 ton. The grinder is a belt grinder with 3x44" serrated conatct wheels. Now I just have to get some dies made.......And build a building around them....
The die that came with it is round and flat 2 1/2" with a 1" shaft which fits up in the ram. Any suggestions on where to get dies made? I have a piece of railroad track for the bottom (for now), and am thinking of trying to grind the flat round one that came with it to draw with until I get some "real" ones.

Can't wait to start playing with these! If I told you what I paid for them, you'd throw rocks at me :D Lets just say its a testimonial of hope for those of us who are financially challenged but obsessed......Keep reading the want ad digest!!!! Eventually it might pay off.

How does it work, happycat?

Just want to make sure I understand. They sell similar-looking stuff on Harbor Freight and I'm guessing it's not the same quality....but still, begs the question.

Friend of mine's wife moved out so he move his shop into the bedroom . Cooler in there. Nice score dude :D

Thanks guys. Dan, it is a 50 ton frame. The motor is a 1.5 hp briggs and stratton. It was custom made for a machine shop that used it to press things in production work. Looks to be pretty solid to me. Works great nice quick action. Haven't had a chance to try and forge with it yet, I have to rig up some dies first.

Is it similar to this one?
