I just received two new khukuris in the mail today. Perhaps that's the best thing about living in LA, the fact that it's so close to Reno. Uncle Bill just sent them out on Friday and Saturday, and lo and behold I got a notice from the Post Office yesterday that I got 2 parcels from Himalayan Imports waiting for me. When I did pick them up I was like a child waiting for Christmas morning. I even knew what goodies were waiting for me, which I guess made choosing which one to open first even harder. The GS blem or the baby Ganga Ram. I decided to go with the GS. When I took it out of the box I instantly fell in love with it. Everything was just right. Length, thickness, weight, you name it, it was perfect. I swung it around a couple of times, and I was surprised to find that it felt lighter that my 20" Sirupati, even though it is supposed to be heavier. I don't even mind the small crack, at least now I know that this khukuri is mine and mine alone. After that I went to my next toy. It was the baby Ganga Ram. There's nothing baby-ish about this khukuri. If this is what the baby version looks like, I'm scared of the full size. It is beautiful, and I can see why everyone says Bura is so good. Why is there no mark on either khukuri? And to Uncle Bill, who made my GS? Anyways, enough with my rambling. Now time for the fun, as I get to know my new toys a little better and try to convince the others that I still love them!
