For those of you who saw the backpack thread I started, I ended up getting the Boblbee Megalopalis. The only accessory I got was the overnight kit, but I'll be picking up two or three equipment pouches tomorrow or Monday.

This pack is SWEET. For those of you in the line of fire of the fashion police, it looks really, really cool. For those of you who carry laptops every day, it has an injection-molded hard plastic case as its outer layer and a computer pocket inside, plus the top is waterproof. If I still had a laptop I'd like this bag even more.

Organizationally it's very customizable, with a fair number of optional extras, but it has a phone pocket on the shoulder straps, a very customizable arrangement of nylon webbing on the case and a very good number of pockets.

One very nice feature is the lumbar support. It's very ergonomically correct (I think that's the way you say that) in general, but the light weight of the pack and the way it distributes the contents on your body means that you carry the load on your hips and lower back. As far as I know, that's the way you're supposed to do it. In any event, it's comfortable.

On the down side, for such a tall pack it's got very little space inside. That's largely to do with the lumbar support, and you can always load up the outside, or purchase any of the external pockets, but the bottom line is that this really seems to be a city pack.

There are pictures and ordering info at www.boblbee.com for anyone who was asking about it. They got me my pack in literally one week, which ain't bad in my book.

The other new toy that arrived today was my new Leatherman Juice Thunder. All I can say is that if this is the largest Juice, the smallest must require a magnifying glass to find, and that's not a complaint. It's got a very pleasant feeling in the hand, and the edges that contact your hand when you use the pliers or wire cutters are nicely rounded off, much like the wave. Better than the wave, in fact, because the tools (as many as the wave, I think, and pretty close to the same tools) fill the space in such a way as to solidify the handles. You aren't going to have sore hands after using this tool.

Those two, my benchmade safety ring and my militec grease came in the mail today. The best part about this is that not only did I get all that cool gear, I didn't get screwed by the post office this time. Very quick service, from Boblbee and 1sks both.

Now to clip glowrings to them so I don't lose them...
