I'm happy.......now if my blades crack, my plunge cuts don't....well, plunge.....and my handle hole boring ain't staight, then i have only myself to blame........sucks not having bad equipment to cover your screw ups....lol

If you notice, i am ready to do some REAL "slack belt" grinding.

I already have a big husky 6 3/4 inch clip point combat knife asleep in the vermiculite. :D I'm thinking about using some of my lignum vitae for a Randall/Moran style commando handle with a blued or tool blacked 3/16 guard and 3/8 to 1/2 threaded buttcap in 1018.....toughest wood in the world for tough knife, eh? I have a few others that I have made out of your W2 and Ray's 5160 round bar. Pics to follow soon.

I like the stand you have the forge on. I am gonna have to put my forge on a similar stand.

I bought some of those new Norton Blaze belts. The 36 may be too much, but i really like the 60's. I will probably stick with the Norzon or Klingspore zirconia for 36's for metal and the cheaper Hermes AO 36's for hogging wood. To be quite honest, the 72" belts don't seem to last any longer than the 48"s, but the control i have with the KMG and the accesibility to the platen is just heavenly:p

I bought the stand from Chile Forges along with the new forge. I also bought the smaller 1/2 inch burner. Running the 1/2" at 3-4 lbs, I can run at heat treat/annealing/normalizing temp +- 10 degrees. It is an atmospheric forge, but the burners have the swiveling choke plates like a forced air forge so I can control the temp pretty precisely without having to play with the propane flow so much. I've only had it for two days, but i am digging it.

lol, George. Now, I am awaiting the arrival of my tang stamping press from Uncle Al. Several knives to follow.
