Hello all. I got a few things in the mail today. I had the RC-6 and have always wanted a Fallkniven A-1 and got a chance to buy one from the exchange. While they both have 6" blades, the similarities pretty much end there. The A-1 is very thick and has a convex edge. The VG-10 is laminated stainless and is supposed to hold an edge very well. I haven't gotten a chance to put it through it's paces yet, and I cant wait to use it more. It reminds me of holding a longer Bravo-1, which is one of my favorite blades. On the other side is the RC-6 which I love for being thinner. I also am a fan of the coil on the RC-6.
The handles are both very comfortable, and quite honestly, was one thing I was worried about on the A-1. I was worried that it wouldn't have long enough handles and I was concerned that the rubber handles would give me hot spots. Neither is true, at least so far and is very comfortable. The RC-6 handles I like more aesthetically, but they aren't any more comfortable.

I also got a Condor 18" El Salvador machete with sheath and a 15" Wetterlings axe. I used both tonight and was a real pleasure using both of them! The Condor was heavier than I thought it would be and chopped some old 6" branches nicely. Comfortable handle too! The Wetterlings cut very well felt very nice in hand.

Awesome additions and cant wait to use them more!

Thanks for the pics M  And score on the bigger toys too :D

The A1 and the RC6 are much closer in size than I had thought. And I'm glad the A1 turned out to be a success for you :)

nice scores there... thanks for the pics.. i have really been thinking about picking up an RC-6 lately...:D

I had some reservations about the Fallkniven handles before I actually used the knives. I think the design and materials are some of the best in the business. They dont look like much, but I can use them all day without issue. In addition, they dont get cold when the temps drop as there is no exposed metal. I know the micarta slabs slapped on a full width tang is all the rage right now, but frankly I think its more for looks than utility.

I also really like the RC-6. I think it is by far RAT's best blade. I just wish they would lose the choil. On the RC-6 I dont really mind it, I can justify its waste of blade length. But on some of the smaller models its a bit strange.

Nice job.

Congrats on the new blades! Those are the first close up pics that I've seen of the A-1, and it looks like a really nice blade. Thanks for the pics.

Congras for the great blades !
The A1 is awsome - I'm sure you'll love it

Thanks rksoon. Really cant go wrong with either of them. And the A-1 really feels at home in my hand. The balance is at the very top of the finger guard.

At first, the choil was a bit strange, but I like it on their line. I really like it on the RC-6. It really makes the RC-6 feel like a much larger blade yet enables you to do fine work with it as well. Them RAT Cultery folks know how to build a fantastic blade.

Mucho thanks for the shots, especially the spine comparisons! I didn't realize how thick the A1 was vis-a-vis the RAT.
