I'm looking for a new/traditional knife or EDC and hunting/camping.

Who is making good production models in terms of traditional looks, good steel, strong locking mechanisms? A traditional look with current tech.

Thx

Brian

For a traditional hunting folder, the Buck 110 is one of the best. However it may not be current tech, unless you consider going to 420 steel instead of the old 440C and veneer wood with foam backing instead of real wood. Still, it has a strong lock and is probably the most imitated knife on the market. It is still one of the best knives around.

If you want well made current tech with great steel with really great quality and maybe a touch of traditional looks, Benchmade has a few that may fit that bill. I have a few Benchmade and they are really super knives. Here is a link to two Benchmades with wood handles. That will be about the only traditional thing about them. Both ave very good steel, S30V or 154CM.

For an EDC you would be well served with a Spyderco Kiwi. It is a blend of tradition-inspired styling and modern technology and manufacturing methods. It's readily available, so shop around online to find the best price.

Traditional looks with quality materials!

I have to agree with the Trapperliner. The trapper pattern is a hunting/skinning pattern. I have an older (20 yrs give or take) Old Timer 194OT, which is a liner lock, single blade trapper. It's a good knife that's easy to carry. It is carbon steel and not stainless, though most of us count that as a good thing.

Boker also offers the Copperliner and Case the Copperlock, which are both locking versions of a Copperhead pattern. The Boker has a non-tactical thumbstud for one hand opening. Case offers a good variety of handle materials and patterns.

Let us know what you decide on.

P.S. You might also look at the Case Russlock. It is kind of modern/traditional looking while actually being traditional.

Nail, meet head - thx Last Confederate.

Amos, I think a new/old Schrade is also on the menu.

Thanks all

You won't regret getting that Mountain Man. It's a great option for a traditional folder design with a great steel. It is close to the size of a Buck 110, but thinner and lighter. And right now you can get it with bone, cocobolo, or curly maple handle.
