I just bought a Case yellow handled CV Trapper and I was wondering what kind of oil I should use to oil the blades with. Also, there is some blade play in the main clip blade, is there some way I can fix this with out having to send it back to Case?

+1 on mineral oil. If you don't want the steel to patinize, check out A.G. Russell's "Rust Free", which is a silicone treatment for carbon steel. Works great, and cheap, too.

I;ve been using a large cv trapper alot lately,it had a slight wobble in the clip blade when new,now it has a matching wobble in the spey blade as well.I gave it a tap which temporarly fixed it,but after some whittling it loosens back up.

In my experiance it's geting pretty comon to receve a new knife thats loose or lacking in the fit and finish department, especially with slipjoints.

I miss the days when you could pick up a new shrade about anywhere for $15-$20,they seemed to hold up better for me than any other slippe.

Sorry for going a bit off topic:(

I always use breakfree and I have never had a speck of rust on my CV case knives. As for cutting food with a pocketknife I have kitchen knives for that. Cutco and Henckels do a much better job of cutting food than any pocketknife on earth.

For the wobble, welcome to the modern world. Send it back to case and hope for the best. Case has the best overall fit and finish under $100 which is not saying much considering the current crop of slips.
