I needed an axe for my hunting truck

I have a lot of Tomahawks and some big axes but I wanted a Hudson Bay. Something a little smaller than a full size axe but something that would work in a pinch

Snagged a Council Tool Velvicut on the bay for a fair price with free shipping :)

Nice. I am concerned for your safety if you hit something. Hopefully that mounting is solid!

Nice hunting rig, and nice axe.

Nice axe, and hummer! How's the edge on yours Joe?
My Velvicut HB is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, hopefully before I go to work.

Thx but the straps wrap around the roll bar and the axe 3 times so it is very secure. Anything could happen so you do have a point but I can hang from it . I would be more worried about the loose Warn winch bag that's full of chains etc. :)

It's a bit obtuse

It could use a light thinning but I chose to keep it thick. I put it on a leather wheel with some rouge and then lightly buffed the edge.

Know it seems fairly sharp and the edge should resist chipping due to the temper

All in all a nice little axe

Just got mine delivered. This is the nicest axe I've owned so far. The size and weight seem perfect for backpacking, that will be tested later. The edge on mine is somewhat robust, not as sharp as I had hoped it would be. Yet, it's not far from where I'd like it, then again I haven't used it yet. My old double bit is less obtuse, but maybe I'll used it before I go changing the edge.

That was my thought on the edge as well

That's why I hit it on the leather wheel just ta give it some more bite.

Maybe next year Joe,right now my sight's are focused on Big Daddy
