New Umnumzaan and Pivot Change

It might just be me and a lack of keeping up on changes to CRK products, but I just purchased and received a new Umnumzaan today; it was made on the 8th of October 2012. Once out of the box, my eyes jumped to the pivot pin and bolt and to my surprise, it was a different design than I've seen and experienced on an Umnumzaan before -- it was more like a traditional (but much beefier in design) pivot bushing and connectors. The entire assembly consisted of the bolt sleeve, corresponding bolt screw, and two (2) large bronze/phosphor washers. The diameter of the assembly on the outside is smaller than the four (4) holed pin slotted original design...

When did CRK change the design of the pivot on the Umnumzaan? Was the intention of the change to allow owners using common wenches to perform preventive and ordinary maintenance without buying or making propietary tools?

Don't read into this too much; as far as I'm concerned (having never broken down an Umnumzaan before -- I am quite familiar with breaking down the Sebenza model having done it dozens of times) the pivot is just fine, and as strong and efficient as the original pivot. I am familiar with other CRK products having owned, and still own, two large Sebenza's and one small Sebenza, one with my favorite Insingo blade, so finding my way around Chris's knives was not an adventure. He sure builds them right....

Ay information would be appreciated, even if it's to inform me that I'm 'out-of-touch' with the production changes at CRK, and the knife industry and forums, in general. Thanks in advance for your help.......cya

Just for clarifications, this knife was purchased on the Internet from a top rated company with an excellent track record according to myself and others who have used this retailer in the past.....cya

A little research in this forum would go far  but the short version is that the effect of the change is that you no longer need the special 4-prong Delrin tool to break the knife down and it is visually different from the earlier pivot version (the flange is larger, but the pivot itself is the same diameter).
