Like many, many of you on this forum I have owned, bought and sold so many CRK knives I am not sure I can count them from Mnandi, Sebenza small / large, 25, Inkosi, etc. The one knife I have never even given a glance at or was even interested in was the "BOSS" Umnumzaan. I saw a picture of one the other night on IG and it just looked so darn cool. I think I was afraid to deal with the pivot from always being used to the bushing as the Sebenza has, but now with owning the Inkosi I have learned there is nothing to fear, lol.

So I ordered a brand new Umnumzaan today and I will have it tomorrow. I did research for the past few days and it seems that the old style pivot, locker cutout and LBS are the only real differences between the original and the one I purchased today born in 2017.

So now to the questions, do any one of carry it in a belt sheath? Lanyard? Installed the CRK back spacer, pin and screw set?

Anything else I should know before this new CRK arrives tomorrow? Thank you

Prepare your thumbs..

In pocket, lanyard on backspacer..but not that kind.

Let us know what you think (after your thumbs are tortured, of course)

Congrats!

Thank you for the reply. I saw a titanium backspacer for sale on a FB forum I posted the pic below, is that what you have?

You will start with One Umnumzaan and before you know it you will have three, no make that five, oh miscounted it's nine, or is eleven.

Enjoy your new toy.

By buying more I assume you mean the different variants? No Idaho Made, No LBS, OP (old pivot)?

Read the instructions in this thread. The Umnumzaan opens differently than any other CRK.

I carry mine in a pocket sheath, When I do wear a belt, I'll use a belt sheath.

Which belt sheath? I have the old, old style CRK cordura belt sheath that use to come with the first Sebs years and years ago and I have the leather belt sheath with the double snap to accommodate small / large CRK knives.

Duh, so sorry, I saw the backspacers on the FB CRK Exchange page, never noticed the sig line, lol - thank you

No apologies necessary :)

I think most people on forums have just grown accustomed to ignoring sig lines..LOL
Post some pics of that Umnumzaan and your thoughts when it comes in!
I need to take an updated Umnumzaan collection myself..have one coming in tomorrow :D

You won't regret picking one up. I finally got one back in my possession a mother or so ago, and let me tell you, it's one great knife. So CRK and yet so different from the Sebenza.

The Umnumzaan arrived, took me a few trys to get the opening motion down. I have been carrying a Small Inkosi Insingo so this Umnumzaan is a beast. I can honestly say in the past I have received some CRK knives that were not so sharp out of the box. I can not say that for this knife, it is deadly razor sharp!!! I just got off the phone with Marissa at CRK and since I was paying for shipping for the backspacer kit I figured I should order a few sets of o-rings also. Thank you to everyone that helped in the thread.

Good to see you like the Umnumzaan. The sheath is a custom, it's been a while since I've used it. I think it's around somewhere. I've been using the pocket sheath/slip more than anything else.

Enjoy yourself and remember: "Knives don't cut people, people cut people"

Don't cut yourself flicking it open, take it slow.

Except for when people cut themselves,

Which happened,

To me,

Today,

With my last Umnumzaan, since you bought my other one.
I think that's why it bit me, it was upset that I sold its soul mate to you.

Enjoy your new Umnumzaan Sir, it's a knife that even us knifeaholics, buyers, sellers, and flippers seem to hold onto for the long term.

Just be sure to keep it fed.

So thankful I still have three small and one large old , old style CRK cordura belt sheaths. Pulled it out tonight and the Umnumzaan fits perfect!

As mentiond above the opening method will seem mind boggling at first. Its like no other CRK in that aspect. I used to bitch/moan when I got my first Sebenza. I needed to callus my thumb before it felt comfortable and a bit of same with the Zan except different part of your thumb. Then came the Regular Sebenza with BG-42 and the older style thumb studs with their sharp edges.

“Take Home Point” give your thumb a little time to adjust and then you will say “Why did I not make you my own before”

Congrats. I like be mine a lot and like it better than my large Inkosi. I'm new to CRKs, but I'm - almost positive - this will be my favorite.

I carry in pocket, no lanyard. I'd like to get the extra standoff for the Norvox mod. I'll get around to it.

With a little practice when you get the right angle on the thumb stud it'll fly open like an automatic, but silent due to the bushings (push up, not out). A very fun knife to play with on the couch (as someone here mentioned earlier) as the wife can't hear it ;)
