New umnumzaans

The hinderer style LBS for one. And they also made the thumb groove for the framelock a tad deeper so its easier to unlock. and they switched to S35 steel

Nice! I had one a while ago and my only complaint was that it wasn't very easy to unlock, but sounds like they remedied that. Ive been away for a bit, is s35vn received well as being better than s30v?

S35 likes a toothy edge in my experience. Without making any comparisons, S35VN will perform very well in EDC tasks. Takes a nice edge and holds it well. It is extremely easy to touch up as well. :)

I had, for a short while, one of the early Umnus, and moved it along because of the ergos. Just before Christmas I was fiddling with a new one while buying my wife a new knife and wound up really liking the new Umnu (and buying one). The changes are small but make a difference. The one I bought had an October 2011 date, so it doesn't have the LBS and I can't comment on that. Well, I guess I can... ;) ...my personal opinion is that, for my own use, it's unnecessary. YMMV! ;)

I have the new Umnum dated Dec 2012 and like it very much. I can't compare it to the previous versions as this is my first Umnum. I don't mind the LBS although I wish they made it out of titanium so it blended better. It opens and closes smoothly enough. I've only been carrying it for a few weeks and haven't decided if I like it more or less than my sebenzas. As for the S35vn steel I have several knives in this steel that I have used for a while (ZT, Spyderco, CRK). I haven't really noticed a difference over S30. Maybe a bit easier to touch up? I would say my biggest likes are F/F, texturing of the handle, lockup, smoothness of blade movement and unlike many I like the harpoon blade shape as well as I like the semi sharpened swedge at the tip which is great for opening the tape on boxes that I am concerned about cutting the contents of. So far I wouldn't say I have any dislikes, I'm still not sure if I prefer the O rings on the lugs. Over all great knife

How'd you manage to get one!?? :)

If you don't like the O-rings just take them off. They don't affect the lock up, they just soften the impact of opening to dampen the sound.

Busted. It should read Dec 2011. The O rings will stay on for now. I like to carry a knife for a few months before I make any firm conclusions.
