Hi guys. I just bought this knife at my local sporting goods store. I was so suprised to see a Browning Knife that was made in the US. It looks like the same assisted/saftey as some Buck knives. Like the odyssey or something. I took the safty off, It is much easier to open now.... (don't try this at home) :D I love the action and the blade shape is Awsome!Hollow grind drop point. The handle is a bit hard rubbery or somethig, grip when you need it I think. Egros are really nice, fills the hand perfectly!

The Flipper works great! nice snap, very smooth. I am going to put some thumb grooves on it and I think it will be perfect.

I searched this knife here and Google with no talk. Is this a near first sighting? Or just not talked about? Lets start talking about it......................................................................................................................NOW!

Please give me input if you have one, negitive or positive, it's all good!

That is interesting, a US made AO Browning knife? I wonder who is making it for them. We got a bunch of new Brownings at work (Academy), but they were all made in China. One, a model 111, has a blade made of Sandvik 12c27 and doesn't look too bad. The others just list say stainless steel. I have not been impressed by the quality of knives that I have purchased from them in the past, but I may have to give them another try.

Their website just says "420 steel" on the model 355 and 356. I couldn't find the 357.

I was sharpening a Browning knife for a buddy a while ago. It had RMEF or NWTF or other some such logo on it.

It sharpened up quick. Too quick. It seemed very soft and there was no way I would have used it in the field. Get through half a deer and have to touch the thing up.

The design looked familiar. Walking through Walmart I headed over to the sporting goods section and there was the same knife with whatever name Walmart puts on their junk.

I hope your version is better than the Brownings I have seen.

Good luck.

Looks like Kershaw.

Kershaw is what I was going to say. Browning gets their knives from many sources. The best I have seen were the couple made by TOPS. A bunch of good ones also from Italy. All kinds of cheaper ones from China, others from Japan, Taiwan. I think the unknown manufacturers and the mix of top and low quality and the long list of countries of origin all combine to cheapen the line of knives and the name of Browning. Seems to me that the target market for these things are the proud owners of Browning firearms (of which I am one), rather than knife afficionados.

I am familiar with ( and like ) the Dura-Coat handle coating. Browning used that on the 'Mirage' series, I think. Knives made by 'TigerShark' with the replaceable blades.

Hi folks -

I also vote that it is a Buck made knife - it has stiking similarities to a Sirus - look at the pivot design and the overall size and blade contour etc.

I think it is a modified Sirus.

What type of safety mechanism did the knife have? The Sirus has a unique type of lock tab on the handle just aft of the spine.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I also saw on therDde web site 420 steel. It isn't too bad. I sharped it and used it on cardboard and it seems good and hard. I believe it had good a good heat treat.

I believe also that it is made by Buck. It has the same AO and safety toggle.

The linner lock, in my opinion, is strong enough. It's not hugely thick but I think it will stand up when needed.

The coating over the aluminum handles is really nice. It has a grippy quality with out any texturing. A supple rubber like quality if you will. The Holow grind on this blade is great. Overall I think this knife is awsome. I will enjoy reporting in future posts. Thanks. :O)

If it is made by Buck, as it seems to be, then it should be a great knife. They are experts with 420HC. Hell, with any steel for they are experts! Enjoy the knife!

So.......... has anyone picked up one of these yet? Oh, by the way, it's tip up only, which is good by me.

Yes...this is the USA Browning I saw...there were 2 left. One had Mossy Oak something printed in the camo, the other did not. First new USA Browning I've seen...I think I might have to pick one up....
