I can honetsly admit that, if one function on my Vic Spartan (my EDC) annoyed me as useless, it was the corkscrew. I have never used it, and figured I never would. It basically held my lanyard ring in place. Anyhow, when I got my Svord Peasant, it was in it's sheath pretty good and I figured out that the corkscrew would make a good tool to remove it and help break in the new sheath.

Your pic's not clear as to how exactly the corkscrew was used.......did you "thread" it through an open lanyard hole in the Peasant's handle?
Perhaps if I was more familiar with the Peasant......

The Peasant has a tang that protrudes from the rear of the blade, like a straight razor. At the end of that tang is a small hole, which I threaded the corkscrew through.

SAK corkscrew? Hmmmm, courting her wife 23 years ago, took her kayaking and a picnic lunch, with wine-- served with the aid of said corkscrew. She married me.

Now I'm $200,000 in debt, I have two mouthy teen-aged "room mates" and I wake up with a 50 year old woman in my bed. I'm going to sue Victorinox and REI for cruel and all-too-usual punishment :)
