Recently I got a Sirupate from Yangdu because I bought some severely overgrown land, and wanted something more machete-like to clear large amounts of brush for a hiking trail.

Well, I was out today, lopping limb for replanting (I forget what this is called), with the Siru, and was getting set to plant them, and thinking I needed something to bore a hole in the soil to plant them. Then it hit me -- I have an unsharpened piece of steel sitting in my sheath -- the chakma -- and dug it out and used it to bore some holes, loosen up the dirt around them, and plant the saplings-to-be, as well as some blackberry bushes.

I know Yangdu is probably thinking "No kidding you can use it for that, stupid.", but it took a fit of inspiration, and a bit of perspiration, for me.

:D

Good thinking Cpl and kudos for finding another way to use all the pieces of the khukuri "outfit". It sounds like you're in the process of trimming "green" limbs and planting them to grow new trees. If this is so, just before you put the limb into the hole then scrape the bark off a couple sides exposing the green (cambium) layer. This supposedly helps root generation. Unless, of course, you're planting willow-no help needed.

My Chakma is pointy as all getout. I think one could use it for tipwork without risking damaging a sharp edge.

Thanks, guys!

PR: The karda is the knife, the chakma has the same shape, but no edge bevel at all, so might as well use that.
