Want to say a big "Hey!" to everyone in the forum-I'm a new user, and I've been standing on the sidelines for a little while reading the posts. It's so great to know that there's a bunch of knife "hypes" out there just like me! If you show your passion for knives with the average "lay person", they usually react like they think that you're two steps away from becoming a serial killer!

Does anyone know if the Benchmade 670 (Apparition) is available yet? I recently got my first BM-a 720-the axis lock was the deal sealer. IMO it's a great lock, although I have'nt put the knife through any serious paces yet. I'm interested to know what you guys think about the liner lock models of BM. Thanks, Webs

Welcome to Bladeforums! :D

I'll let the Benchmade enthusiasts jump in on the specifics. The axis lock is excellent, but I'm no expert on the different models. I've got a couple of older ones: 975 Emerson, 42 Balisong, the 710, and a 550 Griptilian. If you like Benchmades, you won't run out of good knives to buy, though!

I EDC a 910 linerlock, and I've had no problems. I've also got 3 914's, which sit and look nice due to them being FPR serial numbered, a 42S bali, and my brother's got an axis (McHenry & Williams??). He's skinny with small hands so it doesn't fit me too well, but the axis is fun to play with. .

Thanks Esav and AC for the replies. I've been away from a computer for a week or so. Went to Vegas-partly in the hopes that "Lady Luck" would help to finance my knife habit. Suffice to say, no such luck. :grumpy:
I talked to BM, and they said that the Apparition (#670) should be out by the end of August.

I'm left-handed. I hate liner-locks, even Benchmades, as they don't seem to work very well for me. I stick with the Benchmade Axis-locks, and am very pleased with 'em.:).

BTW...Welcome to BladeForums, webs!.

axis locks are better. don't go liner if you can go axis :P

benchmades in general are excellent quality knives. the only thing i don't like is the nimvramius fixed blade series, and that's because of the rather small blade size.

i own a 9100S stryker auto and a mel pardue axis. great knives.

Thanks Glockman and AB. Glockman, there still seems to be a lot of manufacturing prejudice towards "righties", although I think it's getting better. Kershaw's Whirlwind only has a thumb stud set up for a "rightie", but I know that it's an older model, and I think that the new Leek and Blur models are ambidextrous-although I'm not sure.

AB, what do you think of the new BM 220 Resistor fixed blade? Maybe you think it's too small-I can't remember what the length is- 3.5 or so? It seems to be at a pretty good price point-$150 or so.
