To any one who owns one of the 2012 version of the Vantage, what is your opinion of the new blade finish? I have one and the jury is out on how I feel about it. I do like it better than the black coating. I have the tan version and I am thinking about dying the scales orange, unless Buck would add custom scales to their product lineup.

My Vantage Force Select made 12-2011 has the stonewashed blade finish. If that is your question the finish is different but durable and I like it because it hides gooey fingerprints and such. I would think that finish would retain more oil within the surface matrix but I don't really know about that, just a passing thought. One thing anout it, you don't have to worry about the polish. Thanks.

hogger,

I'm guessing your talking about the 2012 Vantages with the desert colors and desert camo color motif. I have yet to pick one up but its on the to do list. I can see how there might be a question on if it is likeable or not.

Probably in the minority here, but I think the original Select, Avid, and Pro were fine. (Actually, the Avid and the Pro are superb!).

I'm not a fan of the new finish, or the partly serrated blades, or the new colorful handle options. Even the Paradigm didn't impress me when it came out.

I believe I'll continue spending my money on those rather than the new styles.

I must be getting old (my wife just says I'm getting grouchier).

I just bought one and when it arrives I will have to respond again. I have never liked the partly serrated blades so I bought the regular blade, in the Pro configuration. I hope the blade is the same as the other 16 I have. It's a drag that they dropped the AVID model, I hope they bring it back.
