Here's a sample photo of a new style of Khuk that HI is working on. Hopefully we'll see some of these soon, it's a real two hander.

BTW - Yangdu will be out of the office for about a week.

Here is the Khukuri detail:

Crescent (curved) Moon Sirupate
Blade length 16.5" Handle length 8.5" (Double-handed Partial Tang type), Weight 28oz. supplied with traditional style scabbard, Karda & Chakmak utility knives.

Edit - Photo removed. I apologize for posting the image. The photo was provided by the kamis as a sample and I did not realize the photo was from another company. I'll try to get a photo from the kamis as to what they are actually work on. I'll talk to Yangdu when she gets back.

The kamis strike again. Bura had seen this khukuri and thought it might be a good fit for HI and sent me a photo to post. No wonder Uncle Bill had so much trouble with the kamis. Unfortunately, the photo was from another manufacturer. I gotta have a chat about copyrights with the kamis.

Sign me up...that's awesome! That one just NEEDS a zombie story to go with it:thumbup:

That karda would make a good "not sheeple-friendly at all" EDC.

Don't know about a chakmak that shape though...

Now that's a pure weapon. Very nice job on the scabbard. Think they should straighten the k & c, though.

Was close to buying a kukri of similar configuration a while ago.... but after much consideration opted for a sirupate instead, as the greater overall degree of curvature of the other one would have been a bit restricting for general purpose slice/cut use.

Would love to try a sirupate of perhaps 20" or 21" blade length that had a two-handed handle though!

That one is a beauty! I wonder if that's an HI prototype or if it's a model made by someone else? Love the bolster.

I don't come over here too often, but I'm glad I visited today! That khukuri is sweet! My eyes just about popped out of my head. What a chopper!

The Kamis definately exist in a world of their own. Well, here's to hoping they can do a reproduction of the khuk Bura saw in a village.

If it's the style that I'm thinking of, they're very striking visually and a bit tricky to use. One must cut "into" oneself on a lot of angles. Very neat, though.

That's me from about a year ago IIRC, and I still owe Jerry a kick in the ass for uploading all my vids without telling me. :o

Yes, Dave as always is ahead of the game with his hard intelligence. (if I had your brain I'd be a engineer) Farm implements with this kind of curve have long handles on them, dont' they? Makes sense.

I've always said the hanshee designs have an enhanced push pull potential, and that there's a technique to their use. Always thought a woman or not particularly powerful man, (like me, for instance) could use technique with this design and achieve exponential results. While this is true of a lot of tools, I thought it particularly true of the curved blade. There were times with a snap of my wrist my own hanshee would cut chokecherry limbs in an amazing way, but learning to control it was the thing.

Yangdu wrote me this am that Bura found the design he liked at a village and wanted to make it. Should see the results soon.
