This is not going to be any kind of long review; I just received the knife about a couple of hours ago.
Generally, my first impression of the 2nd generation Becker BK2 Campanion is very favorable.
It feels better in my hand than both the 1st generation Ka Bar and Camillus versions.
It feels "quicker".
It's slightly lighter in weight, but that seems to only give it more mobility.
Also, I think it will be less fatiguing for hard use over a long period of time.
The balance overall feels better too. Of course, on this 2nd generation version there's slightly more weight towards the front of the knife. It feels "right".
The blade is the same width - a full 1/4" - as the prior versions. The knife feels incredibly solid.
It was reasonably sharp out of the box - not shaving sharp. I'll put it on the strop initially and see what happens.
The grinds are very good so I think it'll take a very sharp edge. The fit and finish overall, though, can only be described as excellent.
And this 2nd generation BK2 has a very useful hammer pommel, a feature which I've always wanted to see on this knife.
I've got to put it through its paces, of course, but at least for now it seems that Ethan and the crew at Ka Bar
have taken a heavy-duty classic and made it even better.
