New Vertical Lockbar Cut on ZT 0551

I just purchased a new Zero Tolerance 0551 the other day and noticed a few differences between my example and any others I have seen. My S/N is in the 1500's which also dosent make sense but I found out that not all of the 1000 made it past QC. My 0551 has the improvements made to the 0550 like the chamfered edges and changes in the jimping but also has a thin lockbar cut on the vertical portion, horizontal is the same as 0550. I don't have any pics but it is just like the cut on the Kershaw Tilt. Did this come out as an improvement that I am not aware of or am I missing somthing. Thank you for any and all help.

My best guess would be that they are using up the rest of their elmax blades, liquidating the the last lot of the first batch. Consider yourself lucky to get a 0551 with all the small improvements of a 0550, arguably a more refined specimen. Think of it as the ultimate 0551

Yea, I am happy with it just curious is all. I know they were doing the 0551 with the 0550 improvements but mine is one beyond that with the super thin lock cut. I'll post some pics when I get off work.

wow! im actually surprised they can get such a thin cut to the lock bar. Is this thing lazer cut or is it water jet cut? either way that is some nice work.

Yes my new 0551 is the same..I'm very pleased with the refinements. I think they're using the wire edm to cut the lock bar. Wish thomas would chime in here and maybe update us on the total number of 0551s they're making since it seems they did a new run recently.

The new cut on that lock bar is sweet! Man I keep telling myself I don't need one of these but then I keep seeing these pics. It's getting pretty hard not to go and drop my 0561 fund on one of these, if I could swing it for both it be awesome but it won't happen for awhile. It is a great time to be a fan of Kershaw/ZT :thumbup:

They actually laser it, believe it or not.
