I can't really provide a solid answer to your question other than to say that this is how I make nakiri bocho and it's much more satisfying to actually forge it fully (for me at least). Compared to a lot of the forgers out there now I seem to be a bit of a traditionalist, I guess. This is also what *I* consider to be a forged blade (and this is a subjective standard that is down to the individual-no debate intended or wanted).
