I check this section everyday but did not notice any talk of new tins this year. I went to the Walmart in Woodbridge NJ today to get some fishing waders and there was an end cap with Kershaw, Gerber and Buck holiday specials. There were two Buck tins. One had a wood handled Nobel with a small lockback ( 425)and the other had a Boone and Crockett marked 482 and a 425 with no special markings. I got the B and C one. $20 each...anyone else see them?

Thanks Dave !!! I missed that post! I don't see a pocket clip on mine either by the way but I am not opening the package.....

I opened mine just to check. I guess they decided to save a little $ by leaving it off. I think that's a shame though, I like the way the larger BuckliteMax carries with the clip and I don't like something the size of this one loose in my pocket.

It is a shame they left off the clip. I know the price is great but without the clips I didn't purchase them. I was going to get 4 of the Bucklite ones for presents but I know the recipients would want clips.

I was at Dicks today and saw a new run of 110 tins for this year, new as in the same Boone and Crockett markings but seems like a fresh run...$39.99

I got mine today and am thrilled the 482 has no clip!

I've been looking for a super light locker in stainless for my backpacking kit. I EDC an Opinel #8 most days and actually prefer no clip. I have been also looking at the Ecolite 112, but the extreme clip and thicker blade profile make it less useful as a general purpose hiking knife for me (I own and love a 110 so am familiar with that blade). I've looked at the 482 and larger 486 many times and have declined because of the clip.

The 482 isn't a looker but dang, it's a real useful knife. $20 and made in the USA! That rocks.

I love the 486 as an EDC (I'm wearing it now) but I agree it would be great in a no-clip option. I took delivery of an Ecolite 112 last week but the 486 wins hands down.

Whoops!!! Just to clarify, the tin contains the 482, not the 486. The blade tang reads, 482C and it also lacks the thumb stud (another win in my book, as I dislike those).

I went into Walmart day before yesterday and they have sold out the Nobleman/Deuce sets but have piles of the Bucklite sets left. I'd say (just my opinion) that it's because the Nobleman and Deuce are just plain prettier.

Heh. If I were buying a gift... a gift for somebody who would like a nice looking knife who didn't sweat country of origin or blade material, I would get the Nobleman/Deuce set.

The 482 is UGLY. Like it fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch ugly.

But, the blade is great! And it feels great in the hand and in the pocket. It's a great user.

So, I didn't buy a gift. I bought me a usin' knife. Just for me. My own Christmas gift. I love it.

I like the looks of the Bucklite set myelf. I think 20 bucks is a steal for the set also I think it's a bit odd that they left the pocket clip off but then again there are some that have no intentions of ever using a pocket clip. The 482 IMO is kinda like a more modernized version of the 110 and I've always thought it was a bit of a sleeper in the buck lineup.

Does anyone have a photo of the 482? With no pocket clip I'm interested. I'll check my stores. Thanks, DM

David, here you go.

The knife next to it the the Opinel #8 but don't be fooled by the perspective!! The Opinel #8 is a tick longer. I just had to shoot at an angle to show off the handle of the Buck better. Note the 2 holes at the base of the handle for the missing clip rivets. Also note that this version lacks the thumb stud for one handed opening (but worse food slicing). Both missing features make this version a better pocket knife, imo.

Didn't know it was missing the thumb stud. Those are still in the 2 stores I have been in recently, just a few left though. The import versions were all gone. I didn't pick any up but it looks like Buck is selling alright here at Christmas.

They should have taken the clip off of the Nobleman and put wood on both sides. Even tho I have one I would have bought another.
