I got my new micarta small seb 21 yesterday and it is a beauty! I really like the added grip with the micarta...I took it apart today to clean it out and apply the lube of my choice and noticed the washers are different form my last sebenza...has anyone seen these new washers before?

They've been doing it since Dec 2009 I think. All the Umnumzaans had it from the beginning

thanks for the info. Looks like I am a little behind the times, but if anyone is interested, my small seb has a birthday of 6/23/10, so they are definitely into the perforated washers for the small sebs.

forget the washers why does your pivot pin have a hex hole on both ends like a zaan?!!!! can we finally loktite the benzas and be able to take them apart again? yay :)

CRK switched to the dual hex holes on all 3 screws a little while back I believe...maybe early this year?

For those of you out there with sebenzas with both the old style solid washers and the new perforated washers how do the two compare? I mean do you actually notice a difference in smoothness or grease retainment time?

My small CGG and 21 both have the old style. My Small insingo has the new washers. I can tell you that the new washers hold the grease for a longer period of time. With the old style, after I washed it out under hot water and soap, most of the smoothness was gone and needed a take down. The insingo, can go through several washes before it needs to be taken down.

The perforated washers make the already smooth action on a Sebenza even better, and hold the grease for much longer. For about $6, it's an incredibly affordable upgrade that everyone should consider.

I didn't notice any difference in grease retention or smoothness with the two washer types. Then again, I never felt the need to re-lube the older Sebenzas more than once a year anyway.
