New way to down size a collection

Just down sized my collection in the weirdest way possible

was cleaning and maintaining some of my knives today while i was building a couple hunting knives from friends down in my garage.

I had a couple tables out in the drive way with my knives on them letting them air dry, before i knew it i had 10+ people at my house asking how much for the knives. after turning down about 20 people i gave up and started putting astronomical price offers...... they started to buy.

long story short i pulled out 90% of my knife collection & sold almost all of it, down sized the collection while making a nice chunk of change

Anyone else have this happen to them???
 
I reside in Nazi New Jersey so 90% of my collection could not be sold legally.

Sounds like a great day for you and no PayPal fees!
 
oh i know how that goes, use to live out there when i was younger. chesterfield to be exact. I almost got arrested for carrying a Gerber covert jr. last time i was out there, its crazy


come out here; its only illegal if you intend to kill someone with the knife haha is pretty great
 
That sounds like a pretty dang productive afternoon! Never happened to me but some of the folks around here have collections that I wish they would start shaving away hehe :D
 
One day I was showing my collection to a then new neighbor.
He was impressed with several pices and the started to enquire about my asking price.
That was strange. I informed him about some good sources and he got himself a nice knife.

oh it was haha, start poking around their collection hinting at buying em, they may just cave & sell you a few;)

it wasn't really a tag sale, it was more of a "If you have cash in your pockets and I sell you a couple knives will you shut up, leave me alone and let me keep working on my knives" kind of sale haha
 
I downsized the old fashioned way. Separation pending divorce. Prior to that, I downsized when the wife lost her job and we needed money for drugs/alcohol :eek:
