New We knives for wee budgets = Civivi !

good video, but as usual all the open and closing blade and moving hands, rubbing the fur for some reason under the camera and just way too much talking just to talk........ I cant make it to the end. no offense to the review fella but I just cant watch these. I almost did make it to the end but I was fading.

I'll sum up for those cant stand to watch someone talk for 13 plus minutes.....

-we brand cheaper model for regular user who can't afford a 100 plus buck knife

-using 9cr18mov, says should keep up with vg10 or be better, also thinner blade stock

-lower price under 50

-coated stainless liners in gold color or blue, stainless screws and good quality g10

-stainless bearings

-should be we type quality even though cheaper

that's the bulk of it. 2 minute video if I did it.......:)there ya go......

These knives should have the china factory for Kershaw scrambling. There have always been better knives for the money than cheapo kershaws (ontario rat's, victorinox, AUS-8 cold steel's), but now WE is showing quality can be had for sub-$50, with better than 8cr13mov on everyyyyythinggggggggg

Kizer's Tangram Knives fill a similar role as well. No personal experience, but they seem fine. I was curious to try their button lock.

I've had more problems with Kizer knives than any other brand TBH, loads of QC issues (remember the original Feist?). I bought 4 of their bladesmith Gemini's, all at different times mind you, all with different issues from lock rock to no detent to detent balls getting stuck in the detent hole making it impossible to flip. Only 1 has been of acceptable quality for the $170 price tag. Had issues with multiple other models as well. I'll never touch their tangram series, can't be any better.

That sucks, I only have the Nomad V2, it's somewhat of an uneven grind up aside from that it's well done. But something about it left me cold so I didn't get any other Kizers. Can't really pinpoint what it is, it's a decent enough knife, the action is very good actually and it came sharp, it's cool with the flame anodizing, the milling is nice. It's still a weird knife.

I've wanted to like Kizer so so so much. They have a lot of designs, and makers, i.e. Ray Laconico, that I like so much, but their execution is flawed across the board. I wish they put a little more effort into quality control, even if it meant adding $20-$30 onto every knife. I'm very close to selling off my good examples of theirs just because I too have been left with a cold feeling from them.

Enough talk about Kizer. These WE knives are going to be fantastic for budget minded people. I'm going to buy a couple for friends/family as beater knives. Damn good beater knives.

If We can maintain their great QC with this new budget line , "Civivi", then I think all the other budget lines from both USA and China are going to feel some pressure to up their games also (both lower price and higher quality ) . :)

These are being made on the same machines, and by the same people that make their high end knives, so I'd imagine that the quality will be very similar, just with lesser materials. Because the steel for both the blade and liners/hardware are sourced directly from China, that dramatically lowers their overall cost, as well as the fact that they bought the steel in huge bulk to cut costs even more.

If they used D2, I'd be a lot more interested. I've become a steel snob to where anything below D2 or 440C is just not appealing to me any more.

They claim the 9cr18mov is about like 440C ? With an optimal HT , should be fine on a moderate use folder . Not sure why they didn't use D2 , unless people are realizing it's not stainless ?

9Cr is technically just below 440C. 10Cr is the equivalent of 440C. It's very similar, just slightly lower in edge retention.

Thats really unlucky. I have 2 of kizers first run knives, and 2 newer ones. All have been great

My experience is the same way. The only Kizer I have had any actual issues with is my M390 Shoal, which has a weaker than I'd like detent (but it's still functional). My 3 Tangram knives are great, granted the Orion has the same issue, slightly weak detent, but I'm not expecting utter perfection on a $40 knife, and it's 100% functional. I've had worse action on knives up to 5x the price. My Ophid is actually the smoothest action washer flipper I've ever seen, it's shake shut like most bearing flippers, and that knife clocks in around $100.
